I want to replace the stock speakers in my non-JBL 2017 Crew Limited. Recommendations? I used to be an audiohead in a prior life (12" and 15" subs, crossovers, components, amps, etc.), but am no longer into the thump, expense, and time and effort to rip the interior of a new truck apart. I just want a clear, full, sound - and don't want to rip my new truck apart much to install, and want to keep the interior looking as stock as possible. I've been on the *********.com website - plug and play is the way I am leaning, but not sure I want to spend tactotunes- caliber coin. Thanks!

adding a small amp might be your best bet. get a small 4 channel amp that'll fit in or under the glove box and punch a small hole in the side of the glove box to run wiring back to the stock hu. a bit more power can make garbage speakers sound better and the stock hu probably isn't worth trying to run expensive door speakers off of without a secondary power source.

speaker-wise: I'm a fan of Polk, JBL, or Infinity for decent quality. Sound-wise is entirely what sounds good to your ears. I like deeper sound rather than crystal clear which is why I tend to lean toward Polks.

Thanks Help. Good thoughts. I was hoping to get away without running power off the battery to an amp (drill hole through fire wall, etc) like we used to in the early mid 90's (maybe there is an easier way now? - I am dating myself). Have you seen the component speakers on *********.com? Those kits seem like the real deal.

I've got my stuff ordered and just waiting for it to come in. Everything I've read is that you need more power. The stock amp just doesn't have any juice to it at all. You can get the power wire into the cab through the rubber grommet on the driver's side so you don't have to drill any holes. You can also get a harness that will make an amp plug and play with the wires that are already under the passenger seat.

I was never able to really find out what kind of quality are those ********* amps? If you don't want to go with the ********* amps, you can get a different amp and just use the harness to make it plug and play as well.

I've know several people with the taco Tunes set up and there very decent. I'm still running JL audio amps for my stuff.

I ended up going with a JL Audio amp as well because I didn't know what the Taco tunes stuff was like.

I know the owner of Taco Tunes personally and he is a very knowledgeable and a helpful guy for Toyota stereos. I've listened to several Tundras running his amps and they still sound great for a lot less money.

Good information b-ball. I know there are several good install videos out there on the web, some of which are on *********.com. I admit I have not spent a lot of time researching and figuring yet. This page has been very helpful.

I've heard the same. Too bad I am more than a couple hundred miles away in PA and can't pay him a visit. I'd have him do the whole install and not worry.

Yes, it is under your passenger seat, under a black plastic cover. I think I've heard it only puts out like 17 watts.

If I replace the stock amp I will get more out of my speakers? Also, is it as easy as unplugging old one and replace with new one?

Some people have done nothing but replace the amp and have said it was much better. I'm going to change out the speakers as well. You will need to get one of the harnesses from ********* or one of the other sources and you will need to run a power wire from your battery as well.

Believe it or not Taco Tunes has people who have ship their Toyota vehicles to him from out of state. The plug and play amps are very easy to do.

I believe it. I am a little too proud and am willing and do rip things apart (sometimes I can get it back together) on my own not to go through that trouble.

There have seen numerous posts about how the stock radio is sub-par with the rest of the truck. I have a '15 limited and my jbl in my Tacoma was so much better.
