Yes, thanks, I've seen the name and done some preliminary research but tbh I'm not convinced (yet) that they're a good value for the $$$.

What exactly are you looking for out of them, or what are you expecting. They do not increase HP or mileage, but they do make they engine and tranny sing a beautiful song. It changes the driveabilty a lot, better throttle response and it seems to hold gears longer/better.

Better fuel atomisation. The engine will run smoother. Gains? Likely if you have other mods. They’re a supporting mod id say.

I'm expecting the same/similar results I got in the XJ: Smoother idle and better/increased throttle response, nothing more. If I get more I won't be disappointed though but I don't expect it.

The price he is asking for the set is reasonable for what I assume is rebuilt/ cleaned injectors. I priced out new oem and it was ~1200 for a set of the 12 holes he’s sourcing. Aftermarket was ~800

And I believe I can get it for less than $300. I will get it for less than $300.

You're entitled to your opinion. I believe $300 is significantly overpriced.

For most vehicles I agree. BUT for whatever reason Toyota’s proud of their injectors and they range from $200-400 EACH depending on the model they’re off of.

the aftermarket stuff is trash that you can typically find for 1/6th the price.

honestly if the stock ones are still working, I wouldn’t spend the money before headers/etc.

I have 4 of the blue 12 hole injectors.. trying to hunt down more used ones. Once I do I’ll have my buddy flow test them and clean them. See if I can find a balanced set of 8. Should be easy considering my job position and being the one replacing motors all the time

So here’s a question for you tech guys. What temps should I be seeing with my torque converter, transmission pan and coolant? I towed a heavier trailer than I wanted to this past weekend and had to drive up a pass that I wasn’t crazy about.
These were short lived but the highest temps I saw

I don’t think I’ve hit over 180 towing the tiny boat, but 207 isn’t to alarming; your probably making a few turd gen guys jealous with those temps

Yes, they are. Lol! And I agree, there are many companies selling inferior product and I'm avoiding them like the plague. I have an aquaintance in southern Ohio whom I know is reputable that I'm certain can do a set for me for closer to $150 so I may reach out to him soon if it comes down to it. Just scouting out the market landscape right now and planning. I've got to get the timing belt job done next when I have 2-3 days off. Thanks.

Trans fluid should be around 180-200. Past 210

I've got 13 of them. And a set of the green 320cc ones from the 2zz IIRC.

The 2zz ones are a a slightly different design. You sure they’re not 03-04 1zz greens?

Water will boil at 212, but properly mixed coolant in a pressurized system won't boil till 250 plus. Your numbers look very reasonable to me for the situation you described. I'm sure they aren't that high during normal flat towing. I'm surprised how low your oil pressure gauge is reading for full load 3200 rpm. Voltage gauge too.

Been driving all over the place the past few days with lots of miles on the truck. Driving nicely and no CEL or weird stuff from the work just performed so I feel good about being past the Window of Mangle.

Dropped some of the extra not used tools ordered off for returns before the window closed on that. Sign on the store door says to wear a mask and the owners didn’t have one on. My state lifted the mandate last week and there is no way in hell I’ll be putting one on. Goofy people still walking around outside with them on. Some freedom of information emails are surfacing from our health director that shows he knew masks didn’t work for the most part and he lied to us on a few other things. The damage is done, though. :annoyed:

My understanding for the masks was it was always meant to be a shift in mindset.

If it makes you feel better we had to wear them until recently, and that was with 98% of my unit immunized and isolated with each other for the past... 6 months. If you think the govt went dumb on actions, the military went full retard in a way that is already significantly affecting retention.

Yeah. Its all the downstream stuff that has me concerned. Only time will tell. If anything, I think this entire experience will harden a resolve in some (although its been tough going) and make others crack (if they haven’t yet).

Another thing I’m noticing out on the road is the number of old people driving around in groups of two or three. Usually, they’ll be solo heading to the store (pre-nonsense). Its like they’ve all gotten out of prison together and its party time.

Been reading about the 13WL calipers on here people are upgrading to in some earlier 1st gens. Are these the same calipers that were called out as a TSB fix to brake vibration for my 02 Tundra or are they bigger? I have the fix but I don’t know if I should consider the upgrade. I still have the vibration while braking issue but only at high speeds.

The "upgrade" occurred for the 2003 model year Tundra. 00-02 came with 13WE calipers which were smaller. The 03 model had improved front braking with the 13WL calipers. You can simply purchase the 03 calipers and pads and some quality rotors and get rid of the shaking that occurs over time with the 13WE's. Just have to trim the dust shield a little to accommodate the larger calipers. My truck had the wobbles when I bought it. Did one brake job with another set of pads and rotors for the 13WE's on the truck. Felt great for a while but the wobble returned. Upgraded on the next brake job to 13WL's and haven't had any wobble issues since.

Thanks @KNABORES, they sound like the same caliper upgrade that was called out as a TSB fix for my 02 truck. I’ll have to find the TSB to make sure. I know there are two brake pad sizes for my vehicle because of it.

Only if you assume many had to be in on it. That argument collapses under its own weight if it only requires a select few, which I would argue is all it took/takes.
