Here's the Spintech 3000XL (SS) with Doug Thorley headers, glass pack type resonator, stock Y pipe and cats, and dual tail pipes exiting behind rear wheels (stock location). Some drone compared to stock muffler but not too bad.
I need to get a better recording.

 

No way my 4.7 xj sounds as good as my 4.7 tundra. My tundra is still faster too, which is sad. There is a soft spot for an i6 amc/jeep engine, but I should have just done an ls swap rather than a super duper jeep stroker.

I think your Jeep sounds better than mine though.

Does anybody know what size diameter exhaust pipes we have? I've found a few different sizes...

 

I did a rough measure on my 05 AC TRD and I came up with 2 1/2. But that was the measurement of the section aft of the y pipe and resonator

Most of the piping on my 2004 was 2-3/8ths outside diameter except where flared or joined with other pipes or components in the system.

 

I'm just looking for a decent fitting flowmaster. I can weld so not too concerned about size, but it would make my life a whole lot easier.

 

Can’t recall right now which FM I had put on and while I enjoy making some of the older older folks in our HOA pissy pissy with my rumble, I do not enjoy the sound when cruising along at 55. I also had them put a Y after resonator, giving it dual pipes out the back.

 

I had a super 40 on my 02 4runner and I've been really missing it lately since its been sold.

 

Looking for that g wagen exhaust sound, deep growl, not overly loud and quiet when cruising. Just that rumble when accelerating and higher revs. Thoughts?

 

I can't speak for G Wagon's but I'm really happy with the exhaust I put on my truck. @Darkness and @jImmegart are running the same thing. It's the SpinTech Pro Street 6000. It was only $127 delivered. It's only a little loud if I'm cruising at a very specific RPM, if I go up or down a few MPH it goes away. After having it a few months I've grown to love it.

 

I have heard many mufflers on these trucks but haven't heard one I like more than the spintech.

 

It seems louder at lower rpm around 2k i feel. mine gets quieter the higher I go.

 

Anyone have video clips? Asking for the guy looking to buy my truck...

 

First clip in this thread is my Spintech. Plenty of rumble outside the truck at low rpm.

Really like the sound of your exhaust, do you have a picture of the exhaust setup you have? My piping is pretty rusted out so I would probably need to replace everything. What are guys doing to replace there entire exhaust system without headers?
