(haven't read the bill) I'm curious if they will allow trucks already like this to be grandfathered in, or if they will all have to be fixed.

Yep. Some peeps enjoy looking at tops of trees, airplanes, and such while driving. Especially at night.....

If they aren't grandfathered in, we may actually see the GoFundMe's to finish their lift kits come to life.

There would be no way to enforce if they were grandfathered in I'm thinking.

Its a missed opportunity for Rough Country if they don't jump on this and sell the other half of the lift kits.

Why would anyone be happy this “law” passed?

This is just another thing the police can use to justify harassing you on. California stops people for all types of nonsense. Window tint comes to mind.

The speed limits on rural interstates also ranks pretty close.

Depending on what one had to drink during the evening, that lean might be a substantial benefit. Especially with limited showering ability.

I would share some of your sentiment here, I don't like the idea of laws against customizing your vehicle. However, knowing that headlight angles could never be correct is a fair reason to call this stance a safety concern. What I think about more is how twitchy the alignment might be on a truck like this. Cruising down the boulevard doing 30 might not be a big deal but I can't imagine a truck like this would do well on a panic stop or turn at 70mph on the highway.

They'll do what the Mexicans did when California enforced laws about the height of their low riders- use height adjustable suspension. Run airbags like a mini truck and level out when you see the cops.

As far as reasons to be pulled over, when I was young and carried big bags of a now legal substance in CA I cared a lot about being pulled over. These days I don't drive around with anything to worry about and don't care. Last 6 times I got pulled over I was ticketed twice. No searches, a little comment about window tint and exhaust but ending in "have a nice day". Being pulled over doesn't have to be bad, you'd be surprised how many cops appreciate a modified car.

By the way, for those cheering this law, does your truck fall into the height restrictions? Anybody with a 6" lift, you might get pulled over too. Be careful what you cheer for.

the law is worded in a way that you have to be greater than 3” up front AND lowered more than 2” in the rear.

if you’re 6” higher front and rear you are fine. What annoys me is you can be 10” higher in front, 1” lower in rear and still be within the law.

I’m accepting of most car upgrades, but all squatting will ever do is show off how smooth the drivers brain is.

Most of the knuckleheads around where I am that do this are either spoiled, rich farm kids spending daddy's (or granddaddy's) money, or spoiled, rich city kids that want to be spoiled rich farm kids. Either way, this has got to be the most useless mod I've ever seen....along with 10-12" exhaust tips on a busted-ass anything. Usually, these 2 mods go together for some reason.

On the one hand, I'm not a huge fan of more laws either, but at the same time, this kinda makes sense.

My only concern would be how that part about lifting higher than 3 inches up front is worded. If your not careful it’s gonna go the way of Georgia and it’ll be illegal to be lifted higher than 3 inches over factory front and back. Now granted it really isn’t enforced but get the wrong officer and you can be ticketed for it.

    just food for thought…..

In NC if your truck or car is 3" above stock, its illegal. Or something like that. Also, if you're tires stickout more than 2" its illegal. Never seen anyone get pulled and ticketed for either. Hell, I drove an 87 4runner for 26 years with 37s that were way past 2" and just a tad over 3" on height (he he he)... never was harassed for it. BUT I was pulled over a few time because "my truck fit the description of a stolen pick up". Hell, mu Tundra has a 4" lift on it now and 35s. No issues.

Glendale and burbank cops are the worst. As long as you've got nothing to sweat about they're just wasting time. I chat with them when they pull me over.
