Only thing they'll be able to do or lose their ass. That'll work for the average know nothing buyer but someone that knows that they're trying to pass off a truck that's been parked for a year as brand new will be pissed. Last thing I want is an engine that's sat on a lot somewhere for a year.
Imagine how bad for frame rust will be when they start delivering all their trucks.

I agree, but I'm just saying what I believe will happen. If you buy a vehicle in 2022 you should run the VIN before purchase to get its build date.

I hope in this case you are correct, (since I am in the market and awaiting the specs) in my experience, doing this very thing at companies, most of the time when we want to raise the prices across the board a higher end model or more expensive model (not cars) is introduced and it allows the ability to raise the prices of the lower end to still give the perception that the entry level is still a good price.

Lets say you need to move all your prices up 2K...but by doing that, you move your current top end model into a bracket that the market will not support, your move is to raise the bar on the top end model that the market will support and raise everything else at the same time, so the consumer response is...man that new luxury models is nice but it sure is high, I am glad they still have lower priced entry level models. Without realizing that the entry level model also went up. 99% of consumers this strategy works fine on. The 1% of enthusiasts are the only ones that really noticed what just happened.

I read an older article about the new tundra several months ago (can't find it at the moment) where they mentioned a higher price on the trucks, when I saw that I figured that they would intro a model above the highest spec they have now in order to do that. Usually that is not done with just a small increase, its done when there is a substantial increase to give the consumer the perception that there is still good value to be had.

peak torque of 480 lbFt from 1800-3200’ish and drops to 430’ish at peak rpm of around 5200. Certainly show strong pulling power from a stop. A hybrid could add substantial more power for brief periods, which is really all that is needed to get the vehicle up to speed under load. On flat ground it takes much less power to keep it there.

    Still rolling stock baby....

There you have the V6 twin turbo and its numbers. Should be the same engine going in the tundra. I like that land cruiser just cant afford one LOL.

    A bunch
I could easily see the Tundra getting higher power numbers. For a comparison the F150 standard 3.5 and the 3.5 High Output as seen in the Raptor and Limited trims. Don't even think there's different parts, just a different tune for them. If they want to change a couple parts (intercooler and intake would be the main ones) they could crank out over 100 more HP than the land cruiser engine.

So while the Land Cruiser specs could very likely be the same, it's just as easy that the Tundra could be more powerful by a bit.

Saw this on Twitter from someone claiming to be an employee at a dealership...

"The cab side look is different than the current model! Also very impressed by the way the back end looked. Looked more aggressive. Was great!! It was the TRD Pro model they showed us. Was really cool. They said the new Tundra will have 6models to choose from."

Claims no phones allowed by their boss. Would love to buy the TRD pro first...

    Well that was super helpful:

Us for 1 year or so: "I bet the new Tundra looks spiffy....."

Dealers: "And the moment you've all been waiting for.....YES! I can confirm it DOES look spiffy."

I think we might see a Crew Max with the 6.5 Bed. I don't think we will see the Crew Max with an 8 ft bed

The 6.5' bed is the only thing keeping in a Double Cab right. I would love to see that in a CrewMax. But would hate to see the turning radius.

Just test drive a crew cab long bed dually first and then the tundra will feel like a car in comparison

I had a 2013 F150 Supercrew with a 6.5ft box. The thing turned like a super tanker. I can't imagine a CrewMax Tundra with a 6.4ft box being much better.

I don't like gaping maws. Something that looks like carp with its mouth open. I want a grill that doesn't take up the space of your average pool.
