How does a composite bed have anything to do with the truck being able to get out of its own way? If it is the same material (which it will be) it is the same thing only bigger.

Thats what I am thinking, its fine for Home Depot runs, but if you put material or heavy things that shift etc, or a camper etc it you can tear it up and/or stretch it. Don't get me wrong, it is nice at times, I just have to think a little bit about what I am putting in it. Its not too much trouble with the tacoma because the payload is so low.

I hear ya, They still crack at times on the tacoma, and the stretching is still a thing and they have been making it for years, so get it right is relative. It could be, it just struck me odd IF and thats a big IF they are going to try to match or exceed Ford with payload availability, the composite bed (may) negate some of the usability of the payload. It will help those that need more payload for towing.

Sure, let’s assume (dangerous I know) that Toyota is aware of those issues and has solved them for the new Tundra if they do a composite bed.

Those type of tail gates don't work well for mountain bikers but it makes the pickup truck look fast. Many of the early renders were pretty spot on so this isn't as shocking of a reveal as it could have been.

So this basically looks like a Bigger Taco, with twin turbos strapped to the same Camry/Taco 3.5 engine.
Don’t see how this even comes close to a world beating truck. Oh, add hybrid system. This could have some cojones

That looks ok to me so maybe it's just the low quality picture of the Tundra that's throwing it off.

Those tail gate diapers don't work well when the top of the tailgate is that wide.

That is such a load of crap. They just want everyone on the band wagon to tell bed stiffeners. It's weird. I never had problems loading an engine hoist, a 454 and a th400 in my bed without it having issues. I also did the same thing with a 440 dodge and a 727. The composite bed is extremely strong.
It is likely due to how you're tying things down....

To add to this, I also made 4 trips up and back on the alcan with the tacoma composite bed with essentially an entire house load of crap and a campershell. Thing never distorted.

ah... ok. I have a kuat hitch rack and a couple of 1ups that sit on top of the bars I put across the bed. depending on config and what I'm doing.

I'll be posting my new ride later today (getting my replacement for the mtb I had nicked last august... Yup, there is a shortage...)

The only downside I see to a well made composite bed is that the material is slick as shit, especially when wet.
