Tahoe Z71 or Yukon AT4?

Don’t worry, my Tundra’s not going anywhere. Need a bigger second vehicle with three rows. What are your thoughts on these two? I’m leaning toward AT4. Pic of my truck to keep it Tundra related

Wife will be driving it daily and not a fan of the Sequoia. Should of seen that one coming lol

I didn't do a detailed look into what each one has for features but it looks to me like the MSRP on the Tahoe is about $6k CAD cheaper in Canada so that's the one I'd go with it it has everything your wife is wanting.

I *literally* paid less than that for my house when I bought it 13 years ago; no way in hell would I pay that.

 

Yeah they are ridiculously high, anything this size is, especially in the higher trims.

 

I usually prefer the look of GMC’s over Chevys, but I think the Tahoe looks nicer. And that’s about where my love ends for them LOL

 

Same here. From what I’ve researched the GMC AT4 is more off road capable and drives better than the Tahoe, but I think the Tahoe looks better on the outside. I’ll have plenty of time to decide, no one around me has either one…all are order from production

 

Any idea what the differences are that make them better off road? Also what are your engine options? It would be cool to get it with a 6.2 L gas guzzler LOL

 

The AT4 has an eLSD 4 wheel management system and seems to own the Tahoe off-road. They only offer it with a 5.3 V8, a 6.2 would be badass. So would the diesel option GMC has now but not on the AT4 unfortunately.

 

I would be sure to not get the air suspension. I personally prefer the Z71 Tahoe.

 

I'd wait on a 2022 model if you can, lots of recalls with the 21's on the Tahoe at least. I was considering an RST

I would go with either one, but you better act fast. Any Yukon around here is like the Tundra. No dealer has any and minimum time is late September/October.

does your wife have to get a v8 suv? Transit van has more room. Minivan is more practical

 

Expedition!
Much better than both the GM. Wife has the Suburban wish she would have gotten the Expedition but she did not want the same vehicle as me.
I had an Expedition El at the time.
The Expedition is an all around better vehicle.

I also suggest skipping the short wheel base models. With the 3rd row up you can fit exactly 2 tissue boxes back there.

Wish Toyota made a long wheel base Sequoia.

And don’t listen to the fella saying a minivan is more practical. Not true at all. We had a Sienna for a year before I could not stand it anymore and got the Expedition.
My wife finally realized her Highlander was too small for us having 3 boys. And wanted a full-size that was not the same as my Expedition.
She finally had a full size so I got rid of the Expedition for the Tundra.

The Suburban is nice don’t get me wrong the Expedition was just better in almost every way.

 

I second the minivan, the coolness of the big SUV wears off when you’re at preschool drop off and all the other moms are rocking the sliding doors.

 

Minivan with captains chairs in the middle. The easiest way to get kids in and out of the car quick. Plus the mpg is better

 

Apparently you have never had 3 kids in car seats. This scenario is an absolute nightmare.
I ended up taking out the passenger side middle captains chair to make it easier to climb into the 3rd row to buckle them in.
I can get them in my CrewMax 2 times faster than I ever could the van.

On top of that Toyota’s latch system configuration was terrible in the 3rd row of the sienna. There was only one position for the latch system and it straddles the middle seat and the left seat. I ended up using the seatbelts in the rear and ratchet straps to keep the car seats in play.

 

Get an Escalade over either…. Just got the family this bad bitch

 

We drove an expedition max to Florida on a one way rental when they first came out. They definitely improved the expedition since the last model, but they’re due for a refresh soon to match the F150 interior. The AT4 just came out with a refresh. I wish they made a diesel AT4 or 6.2 AT4.

 

Honda Odyssey FTW, sliding captains chairs (up, down, left, right) we’ve got three car seats and run the two youngest in the middle, the oldest can buckle herself in in the third row. I’ll take the opportunity to or myself on the back— I can even remove and install the 3rd row car seat from the back hatch!

 

We traded in our 5th gen 4Runner and we went with a 200 series Land Cruiser. But GMC/Cadillac would have been second. Wife also didn’t/wouldn’t go for the Sequoia due to the very dated interior.

She loves driving the LC. Once I had her test drive it, she was sold.

It’s nice pulling up to the mall and being the only Land Cruiser in a sea of Tahoe/Suburban/Yukon/Expeditions

 

Land cruiser all day but if I had to choose between those. I'd get a high country with the 6.2. The 5.3 is garbage.

 

I'd get the Tahoe Z71 if it were my choice. We looked and test drove one at the local dealer. We were going to pull the trigger on it but while we were test driving someone sent in a deposit on it. It had the 5.3 w/out the Fuel Management on it. It was every bit capable as the 5.7 in the tundra. It is also 12k less than the GMC AT4 and has the same features.

 

Sequoia interior is comical.

 

The diesel Yukon is a beautiful vehicle and better highway fuel economy than a Honda Pilot.

 

Honda pilot has similar mileage to a tundra so thats not saying much.

damn you guys really treat your wives like gold, here i am considering a kia to replace the wife’s pilot lol

 

My vote is the AT4, great looking rig.

BTW, are you running Icon Vector wheels on the Tundra?? if so, have any pics of them?
