What have you done to your 2.5 gen Tundra today?

Finally got around to installing the RCI Bed Rack. RCI changed their rack design a bit on the shoulders, it now has rivets and a more modern design. I think it also has more slots on the cross bars, not sure though. It also comes with 9/16 hardware vs the 3/8 their instructions say. All in all, very happy with the rack, it's very solid clamped in by the bed cover. I didn't drill into the bed, I wasn't ready to do that on a truck with 11,000 miles, but if needed I can do it in the future.

@equin The pix you posted appear to show the plates looking a little rough/oxidized. Is that an accurate appearance? Did they come looking like that? My RCI aluminum engine skid came looking like a mirror for reference.

 

I didn't want to do any drilling either, which is what I liked about the ADARAC. It uses inserts that drop into the stake pockets and then clamp to the side rails for a drill-free install. That RCI rack looks like it'll support a lot more weight. That should be great for RTT.

Hauled five loads of bag mulch from LOWE’S over the weekend. Best calculation, about 1,500 lbs each load. Of course, no problem for the truck, but was impressed how little sway there was with the sway bar. Noticeable from other trucks I’ve had. Fender height was two inches lower with the load.

 

I think we all can see the irony in a Chevy with an “American trucks” decal parking specifically next to me to flex

 

Mine are the 1/4" bare aluminum, but I'm not sure why they look like that in the pics. They didn't look like that when I unboxed them 15 minutes prior to installing, but they weren't a mirror finish, either. Despite my best efforts, it's possible they got scratched or dirty from the parking lot asphalt and maybe even the Igloo cooler, which admittedly wasn't the cleanest when I used it to prop up the back end.

 

Curious, did you rotate it for better fitment because of a rear lift? I ask because I have the rear TRD Pro sway bar also, and am considering a 1" rear shackle lift.

 

You placed yourself + 1,500 pounds in the rear of your truck?

What's your payload rating? Running bags? Sumo Springs? Shackles?

One more forgot to ask what winch did you go with? I am thinking about the Badlands 12k.

 

Is there a write-up somewhere on what needs to be installed for the easiest possible oil changes (like not having to remove a skid plate and having an easy way to drain and replace the filter)?

I have a 3/2" Readylift with spacers in the skid plate. I also have spacers on the front sway bar, which I've heard make it difficult/impossible to install an easy access skid plate.

Before I buy this, does anyone know of any reason this wouldn’t work for a 2017? Sparks shows it for 2019-21 models.

 

Get the motiv wrench and fumoto valve. Then there's a thread to add a door to your stock skid for the oil filter somewhere.

Delivered today, hoping within the next two weeks it will be installed. After this and my rear elocker install I will have the coolest trunk on the planet in my eyes.

I have waited for this day since January 7th of 2017 which is the day I bought my truck. It took this long to save enough on the side and breakdown the wife.

I used it as a leaning thing for my three kids, work hard, save your money, do the right thing and you can get things you want.

Sorry, I’m rambling but this is a big day for me and if any group of people can understand, it’s all of you.

Yea, I lifted the rear about 3in, sway bar was sitting at at about 110 degrees now its closer to 80 degrees. I think ideal would be at 90 degrees.

 

Standard springs, Bilstien 5100’s, not bottomed out.

 

I’m patiently saving with the same goal in mind. Please take notes as you go and let us know what works best. If you live near Princeton and need someone to help measure 0-60 times post install just let me know!

 

Your payload should be something like 1200 lbs. So 1500 in mulch plus you plus whatever else you got (floor mats, passengers, etc...) puts you quite a bit past what an engineer said was safe and rated the truck for.

Finally put my Bilstein 6112 together on 1.9” setting. I plan to install them Thursday it’s supposed to cool down to 68. I’m going to do 2 shims on driver and 1 on passenger. My current 5100 are on top setting and they’re stiff so I think the 1.9” will be good.

 

Smoked the tails and marker light. It’ll do until the Morimoto XB’s are available to purchase ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

You do realize the majority of us are legit excited for you!

 

You don't have to rotate it for 1 inch of lift.
