Toyota dealers are saying they sell less than 10% double cab variations. They also sit on the dealer lots 4x longer than crew max. This is a dealer, so can’t trust everything they say. Personal I hope they keep the double cab long bed. We shall see.

I’d like to see more 4wd tundras in the inventory with the redesign. For some reason, Toyota has always made a boatload of 2wd trucks vs other brands.

I think that depends a lot on where in the country you are. I rarely if ever see 2WD Tundras.

There really is no reason to make a 2wd drive truck anymore. I think we will eventually see the 2WD truck drop off the map, it is already starting in the HD truck world.

I guess it’s the “gulf states toyota” that control the inventory in Texas and a few other states that think it’s necessary to keep a million 2wd tundras on the lots. Right now within 500 miles of me, there’s 100 4wd and 300 2wd new tundras. Even in normal supply times there’s a ton of 2wd trucks.

I agree. It’s a waste of inventory in my eyes to have 2wd trucks.

Well they must be selling those 2wd's. I'm guessing a lot of fleet customers get the 2wd trucks

Can you even buy a 2WD truck of any kind in Canada without a special order? I don't know anyone who owns one or would even remotely consider one. Most SUVs are 4WD too, and most crossovers and vans are AWD here as well.

I guess I haven't specifically looked at what's actually available on lots but the other manufacturers' websites at least appear to give you the option of 2WD. Not that there would be any point in buying one.

Spy photos have already shown what can only be a CM with what looks very much like a 6.5 foot bed. If you're not wrong, I'm out.

I didn't see those. All I saw was a truck with a bunch of shit on it. Hard to tell what the cab config was.

They are there because they don't sell very quickly, if they did not make a 2wd truck there would be 400 4wd trucks, 2wd trucks sit on the lots in most places.

Those same fleet customers would buy the same trucks in 4wd, if the 2wd wasn't offered, they are buying them because they are offered and a little cheaper, if they were not given an option, they would still buy trucks.

I don't know why they still make 2wd 4 runners and Tacomas either. They should save themselves a step and streamline their inventory, they will still sell them both if the cheaper option wasn't available.

When I lived in Arizona, most SUVs and trucks were 2WD, off-road trucks were also 2WD, usually called PreRunner.
When I moved to Washington State, I rarely saw modern 2WD trucks on a lot.

Exactly. Someone else said what I was thinking in that they should just make 4wd only and streamline the process

    1. In a county of 500,000 people, I have never once seen a single 2wd Tundra.

    2. In a county of 500,000 people, I have never seen a single Tundra being used in a fleet. Ford 55% GM 40% Ram 5%

I only need 4wd about 2% of the time if that, but when you need it, you need it. I would never even remotely contemplate buying a 2wd truck. I have seen a few GM and Ford 2wd trucks for sale here and it is staggering how much less a 2wd sells for....

Well now at least I have heard it. A pic would be good if you can. I mentioned getting a Tundra to the boss of a company that needs fleet trucks
in Idaho and he just laughed at me and said that never will happen.

I’ve seen a few small companies using Tundra’s for sales trucks. Nothing really for larger companies or municipalities using Tundra’s.

Wow. See fleet Tundras all the time! All DCs. I not saying this because I have a DC but my eyeball guess would be 40% DCS when fleet work trucks are included. I can't believe 10%.

Taco and a Tundra from my company that I had in my phone. Both 2wd. I will see if I can spot a random one after next call.
