I'm plenty happy with them, but yeah I do always have a decent bit of weight back there. There's also a medium duty set now for less weight.

Pulling another Toasty. I always think of @Darkness, and @FrenchToasty when they have me do air lines.



I asked how tight they wanted all the connections. They said "tight tight." I said "Ok!"


I always file down the pipe wrench marks. I know it doesn't matter, but it makes me feel better. Makes it look better. Plus, I get paid by the hour. Not the job. The hill people get what they give.





All done. Now I get to get at work. Scissor lift activities.

 

I hated the teas!!!! But the peach one was absolutely garbage!!!
Last summer we were on a truly binge, so the regular ones are gross to us now. Everyone and their sister is coming up with some seltzer boozery; my buddies wife doesn’t mess around, she adds a shot to each one she drinks!

 

Looking good! Do you use dope……… ummm pipe dope that is?
1st realm- do you know the tape isn’t what is sealing the pipe? It’s actually the tapered threads on the pipe and the fitting that mesh together and actually form the seal……….BUT you need some sort of lubrication in between to help those surfaces pass each other and not bind up(McDowells used to use “Teflon” release sheets on their griddles, but later changed to “release sheets” due to price tag on the “Teflon”)
2nd realm- lots of people use tape AND dope, but most people always put it on last…….dope is sticky,messy, annoying. The fire sprinkler guys taught me a interesting pipe fitting trick; dope the pipe……..THEN wrap it with tape; it then seals in all that mess and you don’t get it everywhere as bad. It’s all going to get pushed out the threads anyways as it tightens, who cares in which order that happens!

 

Unless I'm out on the lake I'm having a real hard time enjoying seltzers lately. It's amazing how many brands are out now. There is an entire isle of seltzers at the store.

 

I didn't know that it was the tapered threads that did the sealing. Through thought experiments, and experience 'membering it makes total sense!

I usually use dope, but because I was putting the to it, I decided to pass on the pre-assembly phase shown above. I'll use dope when I attach this to the rest of the section 40 feet up in the ceiling. Had to come get my break first.

We use this stuff for our fix. *scratches elbow pit, shakes, eye twitches* yeah, umm... fi-fix that's it.

My brother in law got into drinking those seltzer and the kombucha shit. I told him he's become a real alcoholic if he likes drinking that kind of swill.

 

I always thought they were for basic bitches. Then found out my ex started drinking them. Go figure.

I had a very frustrating end of shift. I can handle high pressure, high temperature situations but when a water cooler has 180 psi on it, and is steaming Like an old train whistle... I start to freak out a bit.

 

Also, channeling the wisdom of the forum here. My truck is a road warrior 99% of the time with a Two inch lift. It pretty much only goes off road in the yard. My drivers side sway bar link is starting to squeak also. Just like my passengers side. (Suspension Maxx links)

I haven't pulled anything apart yet, but if I can't mend the squeak, I'll consider going back to OEM links.

I realize that the forces on them would be greater than stock height, but is OEM a viable option with a lift?

How soon would I expect to replace them if I returned to toy?

The reason I'm asking now is that I can add that to my timing belt, and water pump OEM part list. Save on shipping that way.

Would lithium grease quiet the squeak from poly bushings?

 

I'm not sure. I'm not too familiar with poly. Only rubber bushings to be honest. I'll have to do some reading when I get done here.

 

Interwebs says to wrap the poly bushings in ptfe tape, and grease outside the tape. Good to know, when i do my bushings. I guess you’d reverse that for sway bar links. Wrap the rod with ptfe where the bushings ride, grease the tape before sliding the bushings on.

 

If they're poly and not gray, they're probably not graphite impregnated. If they don't have a zerk then they're destined to squeak.

 

So every sportbike? My face is going to get tired.

 

This is what I was going to suggest. Noah, if that doesn't fix it, I think some people have run the OEM links with a small lift. But I bet your S Max links aren't worn out yet.

 

I don't understand how people can afford those prices. I'm still In shock over what our neighbors Sold for. There is no sign of it letting up either.

 

For many, they can't. Never underestimate people's willingness to go into debt. The lender approved us to buy a house $200K more than what we paid. My wife and I laughed about it. I guess we could have afforded it if we lived on ramen.

I do hate how much home prices have blown up. 5 years ago we could buy a nice, single family home in Knoxville for $200,000. There were small fixer-uppers for around $100,000. Those days are gone.

 

We were kicking around the idea of buying a different place and the bank approved us for $350k without a thought, she said we'd be good for up to $500k no problem, then added that's what they'd approve it was up to us to decide if we could afford it. Sure we could but I don't want to be house poor.

I suppose it makes sense for them, worst case they get you to pay for a couple years and if you default they get it back to sell again while keeping what you already paid.
