Thanks, I will be picking up some Reset. I did read that it’s your, @ToyoMafia and @briarpatch preferred wash. I think I confused Reset with Eraser. I’ve read this thread at least 10 times since you posted it so it’s all blending together a bit.
I did use the synthetic clay on the whole truck.

    Thanks again!

Looking great man. So nice to see someone take all this information and apply it to their truck. I personally love 3-1 use it all the time for different vehicles. I’m also a CarPro reset fanboy it’s the only soap I touch. Some say it’s expensive but you get what you pay for IMO.

Looks great! If you like the relaxation of detailing your truck, top the 3 in 1 w/ collinite 845 insulator wax. You'll thank me later. Plus you'll get super duper protection.

Thanks everyone… I was a little intimidated with the thought of doing this process but I’m glad I did. I only washed and used Maguire's Ultimate wax on my old 2019 Tundra which I thought had pretty good results but this is much better.

Here a pic of the of the hood today after it rained the night before and not touching or wiping it. The beaded water was almost completely gone after driving just a mile down the highway. Pretty impressive.

    upload_2021-8-2_22-7-42.jpg

Is Eraser only used when starting from scratch after IronX and clay?

Would I just wash with Reset, then apply Collinote 845 or is there more to it?

I can see this becoming an addiction ugh.

Eraser is a wipe down product to clean off all oils and polish/wax residue on the surfaces. I use it after a polish/correction and before a sealant or coating. You can use an alcohol mix but I prefer eraser.

Looks great! Yes, Eraser would go between the paint decon and applying the sealant. It makes sure you have all the residue, oils, and whatnot gone. It will degrade a sealant or wax though, so don’t bother until you get ready to apply it again.

Yes, wash with Reset then add your wax. No other steps are necessary.

Collinite (or any other traditional wax) will add more depth and Gloss to the paint. Wax degrades quickly though. It does provide protection but is mostly for cosmetic purposes.
Depending on the brand, it can last from a couple of weeks to maybe six weeks? I’ve been told by a manufacturer that their wax lasts six months, but that’s not realistic. Most of these claims are based on a vehicle that stays indoors and isn’t driven regularly.
I try to base my reviews on daily drivers in real world settings. Griots 3 in 1 is probably the best I’ve tested thoroughly as far as longevity vs ease of use. The only other one I’ve had last as long is Jescar Powerlock, but that takes a lot more effort to apply.

One tip on Collinite: Set it in a pot of hot water for a bit before using. It makes it more fluid and easier to use.

Yep, just wash and dry your truck with your choice of soap, and apply 845 IW. Put it on thin, a little goes a long way, and it removes easily.

The main thing I've noticed with using this product is that our Rav4 stays cleaner much longer than before. It's almost shocking how well it works at that. I haven't noticed a big improvement on my 20 year old Tundra but I think that's because it's white and the paint isn't nearly as glossy as our 2012 Rav4. I'll definitely keep using it on both though.

Yea, Toyota's white is single stage paint so if you haven't done any paint correction, eg; buffing out the paint to remove oxidation, you won't get the full benefit of any wax/sealant.

Yes. White vehicles can only look so good. Need a pearl in them to add depth. That, or a color that is an actual color instead. :p:boink:

I had to laugh when I checked on Amazon to see what the price was today. $38.99 and only 4 left in stock. Still have half a bottle so no worries.

Its half that at reputable detailing store sites. There will be shipping but most times they have free shipping w/ a certain amount spent. Sometimes adding some MF towels/applicators and you're there.

Yep. This stuff is readily available at several auto parts stores. Haven’t noticed any price increases there.
Alternatively, a gallon is 85.00 on Griots’ site, which is a significant savings if you’re going to use a lot. Considering it takes maybe a third of a regular bottle to do a Tundra, that may not make sense for most though.

That’s ridiculous for a product that’s so reasonably priced and easy to apply.

Once again a reminder of how Topcoat F11 is such a rip off. Costs at least triple what it’s competitors do, and literally washes off immediately. It feels like spraying your paint with WD-40, but I bet that would be harder to wash off.

And still people swear by it. I saw a thread a while back in a BBQ group with people saying they put it on their smokers. Several people chimed in saying they used it in that way. I doubt anything would last on a bbq pit, so it’s a waste of any product, but how do any of them think it’s actually working?

People get some strange ideas, and then they think that they are smarter than everyone else. They are a unique snowflake that can see the world more clearly than the 7 billion other people on the planet and ANYTHING that compliments their personal belief and reinforces their confirmation bias is to be taken as gospel, and any suggestion/evidence/proof to the contrary is to be ridiculed and dismissed. It's not possible that they were swindled into buying a product, or, conversely, that a product they don't like/use is of any value.

Just this week a snowflake genius was on tacomaworld shouting that Fluid Film is a scam that traps water and rusts parts faster. Completely disregarding multiple first hand accounts of successful use on vehicles, documented tests on youtube, the fact that the US Navy uses it, etc. as a bunch of "shills" and "Fluid Film burner accounts" that are of no value. He went on to create two additional threads to the same effect. I tried to pull up the threads, but I think the mods nuked the troll.

Don't get me wrong, everyone has a degree of confirmation bias, but with some it completely overpowers all reasoning and facts.

Can you use this stuff as a topcoat over megs ultimate (which is already on the vehicle)? I have been using beadmaker as a top coat with great results, but if this is better I will give it a try.

Yeah, my bad. I was referencing a guy's craziness regarding Fluid Film as an example of why people to the things that make @War Machine scratch his head. I didn't mean to imply that it was any kind of a detail tool or top coat.:rofl:

I meant can you use griots as a topcoat or is it only a stand alone sealant?

I think this was asked in the past and it was determined there shouldn't be anything wrong with using it as a topcoat. I've done it to both my vehicles.

The people you are describing, the ones who always know better than the experts and are smarter than everyone else, usually have the least to show for it.

I’ve also seen a high correlation between people who “did their research” and are too smart to listen to experts, and people who are pushing some MLM direct sales bs. If you have fallen for a pyramid scheme, please do not offer me advice.

You’re not a salesperson Cathy. You’re the customer.
