A/C always defaults to recirculate

A/C is usually left on when I shut the truck off but Every time I get in and startup my 21' Limited, the A/C defaults to where the recirculate air always comes on. In every other vehicle I've owned I got to choose when I turn on recirculate by hitting the button. Is this normal? The HVAC is not on "Auto".

 

There is a setting in the head unit under "vehicle" that allows you to change that.

No problem. I just found it myself the other day playing around in the settings.

 

Well, it didn't seem to work. Went to "vehicle settings" then to Climate preferences or something to that effect, and switched the Auto climate control choice to "off" as it was "on". No change. Turn the truck off, start it back up and the recirculate air automatically still comes on.

 

Mine only does it if it's set to max ac.

 

If it’s set to max a/c it will default to recirculate. What’s wrong with it being on recirculate? The system works much more efficiently in recirculate anyway.

 

What do you consider "max" fan speed all the way up? If that's the case it doesn't matter with mine as I rarely have the fan speed on high. I don't have a "max A/C" button

 

Not fan speed. Max AC is a temp setting. If your temp knob is all the way to the left, it’s defaulted to max ac

 

Once you get going and the inside temp drops it shuts off recirculate on its own.

 

The temp control. If all the way to cool/max ac it recirculates. Anything under max ac and the recirculating stops. Also noticable click on the control when going into and out of max ac.

 

Mine doesn't, it will get so cold I'll have to manually turn off recirculate. This HVAC system is way different than what I'm used to. Now, I usually have it set to I guess what is Max A/C because temp reading in the digital read out is "LO". One click warmer is 60, next click 65 and goes up by single digits from there. I like cold A/C, its hot here and I don't like the heat. Just couldn't figure out why its always on recirculate. Don't really need that setting in the mornings

 

Is the Control set to auto. Mine is set to auto 68*. Recirculate comes on every time on its own when I start and then shuts off once inside temp comes down.

 

No not set to "Auto" I never use that feature. I read on online version of the manual (to lazy to go out to the truck) and its says if the ambient temp is high recirculate will automatically come on. It just never goes off, maybe it won't if set to "LO" Max A/C

 

Mine comes on as soon as I turn the AC on.

 

From Pages 345 and 352 of the owner's manual:

■When the outside temperature exceeds 75F (24C) and air conditioning system is on
●In order to reduce the air conditioning power consumption, the air conditioning system may switch to recirculated air mode automatically. This may also reduce fuel consumption.
●Recirculated air mode is selected as a default mode when the engine switch is in ON.
●It is possible to switch to outside air mode at any time by pressing (insert photo of recirculation button on/off) .

 

I just hit the AC button and then hit the recirculation button to turn it off. It's not a hardship.

 

I know its not hardship, I was simply just trying to figure out why it always defaulted to recirculate. Never had a vehicle do that and I've had several new vehicles over last decade with "advanced" HVAC so to speak

 

Why does my Kia default to floor vents when I accidentally hit the auto button? Some things in life just can't be explained.
