My bar should be here in the next week or two if their timelines hold up. I’ll almost assuredly do a video on it and we can all learn together

I have the 30” diode dynamics mounted stealth in white combo so I'm contemplating if I should go amber light bar on the good bulge and the fog lights. Any suggestions?

I know I'm not who you quoted, but I'll toss my .02 in here for you.

Here's my 2 standard rules for most folks:
    • Distance lighting is best in white (or closer to white). It allows for better identification and separation of obstacles quicker. Ex - Being able to identify that bambi is brown is valuable. Having your near-field (fog) lighting in yellow will help tremendously when the road conditions sour. The longer wavelength of light will reflect back at you much less when there's snow or dust allowing you to be able to see better than if you were using white light.
    • Leveraging the positioning of the light on a vehicle and the associated angles you are generally better off selecting tighter patterns the higher up on a vehicle that you go. Ex - Spot patterns should go on a rig's roof rack whereas the flood pattern should be mounted down low. There will be exceptions to this rule with very specific use cases, but this works most of the time.
    To answer your question:
If you go with a BD S8 in the hood bulge I recommend a white bar in a spot pattern considering you already have the DD bar down there (otherwise I might suggest their combo pattern). The Baja Designs equipment uses a reflector design (different from how the DD light bar works) so even their spot pattern will open up a little bit at distance and will not be as tight of a pattern as the DD bar. I would recommend you go yellow with your fog lights. The DD SS3s are the best out there right now and (shameless plug) I have them on hand when you're ready to pick up a set. :anonymous:

I ordered the white driving combo which seems to be the most recommended. Plus with the BD, you can change the lenses.

@memario1214 do you sell BD products as well? I'm also looking at a 40" for my hood bulge

Nice, I'm sure you will love it, but if not, it was the other guy that suggested it.

The Rough Country stuff is descent for the price and better than Amazon or Ebay. RC's 40 inch is $249

20210829_132600.jpg @memario1214 it's installed. What a pain in the rear. I must have pulled the bulge off 100 times for adjustments. It's not easy trying to get the optics centered in the opening and keep the ends from pushing up on the ends of the bulge. I ended up centering it and pushing it all the way back to the rear supports. I didn't like the gap in front of the bar so I reinstalled the insert screen. I will lose some light but hopefully not too much. I haven't tested it at night yet.

Interesting, I thought that screen had to be cut out. That's good to know. I've been thinking of doing this.

It does get removed per instructions but I wasn't impressed by the gap that is left in front of the bar. You can carefully remove the screen from the scoop assembly that is removed and the screen itself still has the tabs where you can reinstall the screws. I can take pics from my extra bulge if you want a reference as to what I am talking about. Here is a picture of the first install. I think it looks cleaner with the screen. At 25,400 lumens, I don't think too much light will be lost.

First pic is original install, second is with the screen.

It does look pretty good. If I do this, I'll likely keep the screen in as well. I doubt you'll have much noticeable light loss.

So I noticed today that the 2 corners of the bulge were sticking up. I think it is because of the heat. I just looked at it and it's not as bad as it was, but I'll look at it again tomorrow in the heat. The 2 corner clips were completely removed because they were hitting the bar on the original install, so there are no fasteners in those two spots. I ordered a new bulge that will be here in a day or 2. Since I put the screen back in, I have the bar pushed all the way back so hopefully a new bulge will solve the issue. I may try putting my chrome one back on just to test the fit and security before I pick the new one up.

yep, reviving this ol thread. Can we PLEASE get a light output at night WITH and WITHOUT that screen on? or at the very least with it on pretty please!? im dying to do this mod, and didnt even know it could be done w the screen still on. Im happy that it can be as i didnt want to cut/destroy the screen in the event i ever sell the truck(unlikely) i would take all my lighting goods with me for the next one.

I used the taller bracket that came with the light bar. It is bolted directly to the hood on the bottom side of the hood Bulge. I had to do slight trimming on the brackets that the plastic grommets go into but did not have to fully remove. Used a dab of the gel Super Glue from Gorilla Glue on the top plastic grommets to help hold in place. 4 months no issue.

I have a question on the Baja S8 and I used the Vivid Racing brackets the issue is bracket placement it didn't come with any templates so I used the hole that was already in there and drilled another one for the spacing on the brackets and once installed it appears that the lightbar is too far forward which doesn't allow the hood bulge itself to sit flush as it should what do you guys think I'm doing wrong?

Screenshot_20220821-071436_Chrome.jpg Screenshot_20220821-071436_Chrome.jpgthis is a pic I borrowed from one of you guys to show where I placed my brackets I used the hole shown and spaced it accordingly for the brackets I used which were from Vivid Racing.
But it seems to be too far forward and won't allow the hood bulge to sit down properly am I doing it wrong?

I used SDHQ brackets and all is well, I know that doesn't help with your situation but is an option.
