I have a yeti roadie and rtic 30 soft pack. Both perform as expected and advertised. I've got one of each yeti tumbler / cup thing. They're great too.

I'll be picking up a rtic 65 when i replace the boat seat/cooler this summer.

My Tundra 65 is my dedicated in the house beer cooler. Opening and closing them a lot is what kills the ice retention also it needs to be slam full. I go through 2 20lb bags of ice a week @$2 per bag but I open it 4-8 times a day depending on my day. I've put a bag of ice on top of ice that was in the bottom of the cooler and the existing ice froze solid to the wall of the cooler. I haven't done it but I believe if I were to fill the cooler up and not open it ice would keep for at least a week. On a side note I just ordered on eBay a new in box Engel Deep Blue 35qt for $160 because I wanted a smaller cooler for the back seat.

I wanted a yeti for river and camping. Started shopping around and found pelican. A lot cheaper, better latches. It's kept ice in the cooler for 5 days. In AZ. I love it.
    It is heavy though.

This works great. I freeze unused bait in salt water and it keeps for a very long time. If you don't want to take the time or don't have freezer space, dry ice from the grocery store is good also.

Two questions: do you think they are better than competitors? And what type of "river" action are we talking?? Raft? Couldn't be kayaking

Not kayaking. Got a little 18 ft open bow. Colorado river. It hit 104 yesterday, already. In summer 110-120 temps normal here.
Pelican coolers rock. Same as yeti but cheaper n better latches.

Nah, the Yeti boys had enough of Wally World by then. Plus I needed mine back home for weekend bloody Marys.

It weighs about 30 lbs empty. It's bear rated too. There's even a stainless hasp for a padlock.

Important distinction: yeti's use external dimensions for their "sizes". So a 65 qt yeti won't actually hold 65 qt's.
Rtic uses internal dimensions for their sizing. So a 65 qt rtic will hold 65 qts. I've found the hard rotomolded coolers to perform equally.

No wheels. Wish it had em. After its loaded it's heavy. It came w a basket to keep food dry. Ice lasts for days.
I wanted a yeti but after shopping around this was equivalent but much cheaper. And the latches aren't rubber straps so they shouldn't rot out like rubber.

I have an RTIC tumbler that I use everyday. Tested it against my cousins YETI and they gave just about identical results. I'd go RTIC before going YETI on the price point alone.

    Just my two.

I've got a the 25 can RTIC cooler, and absolutely love it, along with two Yeti Ramblers. My dad has a Yeti 35 can one and its kept beer cold for up to four days. If you want a quality cooler, Yeti and RTIC are the only way to go IMO.

Join, I don't remember the size off hand. I've had it about a year and love it. It'll hold a case and a half of beer, premixed margaritas and food in the basket separately easy. I usually freeze some water bottles too just to save space. But after using it, it justifies the price.
I was real reluctant until I came across this brand.
They make quality stuff. Same company that makes pelican boxes for cameras, firearms, etc.
