Did today what I should have done the day I drove it home. How it looked when working under the hood. How it looks now, and what I used20210903_210802.jpg

Sorry man, I keep getting coupons from the dealership in the mail telling me come in for your oil change it’s 25% off, but I don’t trust the dealership. I would rather do it myself. They even sent a letter telling me to make sure my service is done correctly to keep up with manufacturers warranty. I hope your day gets better.

    You just wait
While signing the paperwork to purchase my tundra I told them, "No offense, but I hope I never see you guys again." No way they will touch my truck unless it's something that needs to be warrantied. Nobody cares about your truck more than you do.

Whatever this forum told me to do
changing your own oil is a meditation.

    it calms the brain.

I just did my daughters highlander....they are sooooo much easier than the tundra.

It has been a fun couple of months upgrading the Tundra so far. Time to move on to de-chroming the front interior.

-BBS Forged Pro rims with 275/70/18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers
-TRD Pro grille, color matched grille surround, hood bulge, bumper end caps and mirror caps.
-20%ish tint on front windows and 5%? windshield tint strip.
    -Weathertech in-channel window vent visors

    1B1C0F33-45C8-4F35-997D-48129662AE70.jpg

-The windshield tint strip is crooked and seems like it comes down too low to me. Maybe it needs to follow the contour of the roof line or something, but something about it I don’t like. Might see about having it trimmed or taken off altogether.

-Amp Research bed step (cut the bracket to install)

-Siless sound deadened the back wall and back floor area

-Two 10” Arc Audio Arc series subs in a Tech12Volts ported enclosure.
-Husky Xact Contour floor liners and carpet/foam cut to accommodate the ESP plastic under seat storage bins.

“Black on cement with a splash of red looks really nice.
Do you have any rubbing with that size of tires or need to remove the front or rear flaps (does not appear so in the pictures)?”

No rubbing or removing/shaving anything. I read a bunch on here before buying the tires to be sure I didn’t need to alter anything. General consensus on the forum is that there are no issues with the 275/70/18 tire size on stock suspension and I have not had any issues so far.

Here is a side profile picture of them. I plan to raise the front 2 inches and raise the back 1 inch and will more than likely keep the same size tires.

Finally bit the bullet and bought a set of Toyo Open Country AT3 tires in 295-70-18. (Listed my like new 275-70-18 tire set in the marketplace ;)).

While I am very happy with the ride, I feel like the jump from 275 to 295 wasnt as noticable cosmetically as I had hoped. Compared to stock TRD Pros im lifted an extra 2" up front and 3.7" in the rear. I kept my spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers on and the truck did rub at full lock going in reverse. I removed the front mud flaps so hopefully that will help. I am happy to notice that the tires do stick out a bit more so it looks better under the bushwacker fender flares now.

What I do love most about the change is how smooth the Toyos are. I dont know if its because of the rubber Toyo uses or due to the bigger tire size (or both ) but the ride home was just so smooth.

I think the tires look great. It seems like I’m in the minority, but I don’t mind some space around the tires and really it makes more practical sense to me to have the space on an off-road truck.

100% improvement. Those fender flares really accentuate the tire sizes too. Im envisioning red UCAs on your truck peeking through the wheel well. I’m thinking about getting a set of the factory style bushwackers and keeping them black on my cement truck.

I want to raise my front end 2 inches and the rear end 1 inch from stock and keep the 275/70/18 tire size. The idea behind getting the slimmer factory style fender flares is to avoid needing to increase the tire size and add spacers to make it look right.

Installed redneck bumper shims today. Used 8 3/8” washers on each bolt. Gave me about 5/8” of an inch of clearance. Break down took an hour as it was a learning curve. Reinstall took 15 minutes. Very happy and no more rubbing.

Nothing too fun just an oil change today. Has almost been 5,000 miles and next month would make 12 months since the last change but it was a nice day, I had the stuff here to do it and I got kinda bored so why not?

Have to say the Fumoto valve is worth it's damn weight in Rhodium or whatever the most expensive metal is! Last oil change when I installed it I think I spilled a quart on top of my skid plate. Now just pop a tube on, crack the valve and walk away. Easy peasy.

Truck looks great! I was torn between these Toyos and Falkens. Ended up with the Falkens since they’re performing so well on my T4R. I think I may try the Toyos next time though, I really like that there’s a C load option in the factory size tire.

    Thank you!

I was about to get the Falken AT3W in same size as it would haved saved me almost $300 and the good reviews. Last year, I installed Toyo Open Country AT3s on my wife's Subaru because the KO2s we had just bought were too loud. It was a night and day difference with how much better the Toyos were. Much quieter and handled ice/snow/rain covered roads mire confidently. After buying KO2s for the last 15 or so years I was immediately converted to a Toyo fan, I was that impressed especially after the recent winter storm in Oregon.

I think I might try a couple of these lights out as bed lighting. I don’t need it often and this looks like a quick solution.

Spent the bulk of the afternoon cleaning my truck. Outside will look nice for the next, 27 minutes probably. Inside looks great though. Tire shine really does wonders to Husky Floor Liners, FYI. I do need to find a good bug remover if anyone has a recommendation.

Good call as the cat theft has been a HUGE problem in Sacramento. Especially in Natomas . Not sure what part of Sac you’re in.
