Replaced my front and rear brake pads with a brake fluid flush to go with it. Truck has 37,9xx miles. The front and rear wore out pretty even. Usually it seems to be two sets of front pads to one set of rears my whole life. Last time I rotated the tires the pads looked pretty low. But upon removal I probably could’ve got another 10 K easy out of them. But they were squeaky and once I pulled the wheel off there was no going back LOL.

I do off-road, drive pretty aggressively and have towed quite a few times along with many trips to the mountains. I attribute the even pad wear to possibly the assisted ABS LSD when I’m off road. Also spirited driving with the LSD on must help to keep the rear pads wearing out at the same pace as the front. :notsure:

Either way, I’m fine with it. Didn’t get any pics besides this one.

Used caliper and brake parts grease on all the contact points and slides. Just went and did my first break in procedure. Letting them cool and going to go at it one more time. These are TRD pads. Heard they have quite a bit of dust, but I’m not too worried about it. As long as it stops good, especially when they’re getting worked. Not bad for about $200 in parts plus about $10 and brake fluid. Used a full quart during the flush and I had bought just a small bottle in case I went over, and I’m glad I did. Used about half of that.

This is the bleeder bottle I used. Worked like a charm without having to have some expensive self bleeding kit. Super easy by myself. Although I’ve always figured out a way to do it by myself LOL.

Added tie down rings at the bed rail mounting locations. Not quite as versatile as the bed rails, but a lot cheaper and still provides 10 tie down locations.

Continuing to smoke light lenses working from smallest to largest (tails) to gain experience and skill.
Too dark for outside pictures but this is the 3rd brake bed light lens before:

    A21B973F-F802-468F-BD23-0B9F5796F3C2.jpg

    And after:

    2525CBC7-87C5-4E46-91ED-3936D10A52FF.jpg

Light output does not seem to be diminished at all. But a cosmetic improvement. Looking forward to getting the tails done but the fins worry me.

is this amount of rust normal for a 10 month old truck with 25k miles? seems a little excessive to me. would this be something I can have taken care under "warranty"?

Looks good. I doubt the dealer would do anything about that surface rust. I would suggest getting some stainless hardware for your skid plate and putting a little anti-seize on the threads. If you’re worried about the surface rust on the metal parts, scuff it and hit it with some rust oleum. Or just lube everything up with something like fluid film or any other rust preventative. It will protect the rest of your investment. Do it once a year if you’re in a salty environment.

Went out and did my second bed in procedure on my new TRD brake pads. Huge difference from the first round. That is to be expected but it feels better than it did with the OEM pads. I could hear all four tires trying to lock up. It was on the verge of ABS stepping in. I’m impressed. Each time I went out and did about 10 aggressive stops from 60 to about 10 mph and then cruised home letting them cool off and trying not to come to any stops until I made it to my driveway. Everything worked out perfectly. I was definitely borderline breaking the law, But we have a little industrial area with some long stretches and no one around. It was about five blocks from the police station. I think I could’ve explained myself out of it. The dirty deeds 6 inch wasn’t doing me any favors.:rofl:

Installed wireless charger in center console, cut and programmed a second key for the newly acquired truck (only came with 1 key), reinstalled the tonneau after the Line X spray in on Thursday, and tried to get started on installing the remote start…failed miserably after bricking the EVO-One trying to flash it. On to the factory bed lights tomorrow and trying to figure out where and how to tie them in to the cargo light circuit.

Check the build link in my signature.
The factory bed lights run off the cargo light circuit… at least the ones I installed. The instructions run the wiring along the frame, up into the cab on the passenger side, then across under the console to the drivers side and taps the cargo circuit wiring

Thanks for sharing. For me, this is one of the main reasons why I do my own maintenance. All the time spent correcting people's mistakes/lack of care/inattention to detail/lack of respect for other's property could have been spent doing the job right. Albeit, at the cost of energy. Time would be spent either way.

This time of year is good for DIY maintenance cause I can just put a football game on the garage TV and work on the ride.

On my 2018 that wire under the scuff plate is pink. There are 2 pink wires under there and if memory serves it was the heavier gauge one.

I agree 100%. Ive been a loyal KO2 person for a while but we got the Toyos for my wife's Subaru last year and they blew me away especially during the winter storm.

The way around that is to treat them like a tattoo, if you can’t keep it for a LONG TIME, then don’t put it on. Makes those flings seem a little like a waste of time. Just saying you know

Toytec Shackles set at 1” installed and wings removed from the skid plate to stop the rubbing.

The shackles gave me 1” of rake back after the Eibach 2.0 coilovers leveled the front out. I think the stance is just right now.

Yes. I have used Toyo AT before and I am using HERCULES TERRA TRAC AT and this one is as good as Toyo AT. KO2 is way too loud.

Continuing to work on my truck camper build. Truck vault and curtains now installed. My Hobie kayak seat doubles as a seat for the camper. I’m waiting on my folding mattress to arrive for the top of the drawer system. Slowly, but surely it’s coming together!
