Most definitely a fan of the new look, can't wait to see one without the chrome. The Interior looks well upgraded and the screen looks neat!

That front will look awesome in all black....somehow the DC look's to have less leg room/space but I could easily be wrong. I want a crewmax!! Also pretty excited to see the interior of both platinum and 1794!

The rear bumper isn't too bad, the front end though from the beginning has just been tough to handle.

Being stolen and crashed still doesn’t explain all the oil varnish from what I can only guess were 10K+ mile OCI’s.

Funny....I just went to 5thgen ram forums and saw them discussing the 22 Tundra. Most of the comments said they liked the front end.
Weird, huh? They also said it's great to have competition.
    Totally different vibe than here.

Why was the double cab so much lower than the crew max?

15 Years And This Is The Best You Can Do. I just wish the grill was bigger with even more plastic, then I could melt it down and build a new above ground swimming pool. Hold up, I think there's enough.

I'm not a fan of whaleshark-like grilles but that's what we're getting with all of the truck brands. There's function to it I guess because of the cooling needs required by twin turbos, strong AC for large cabins, large towing capacity, large cargo weight.

And all at the same time while doing 65mph in 100 degree temps. Toss in the late lamented aux trans cooler (that may be coming back) and yeah, seems a grille large enough to capture a lot of air is necessary.

I think we might see Toyota turn up the wick on the V35A-FTS for the Tundra to make 425HP and 505lb-ft, just to be able to claim the most horsepower and torque of any 1/2 ton across the whole line up.

That would leave out the Raptor, Powerboost, and TRX; otherwise giving a basic Tundra of any spec claim to being the most powerful in the segment beating the GM 6.2L by a few horsepower, and the Ford EcoBoost by a few pounds feet.

It’s not tough to imagine since the LC 300 engine is making 413lb-ft @ 5200 to make 409HP, Toyota only needs to make it hang that torque output another 200RPM to hit 425HP @ 5400RPM. A mild increase in boost in the midrange only needs to find enough cylinder pressure to bump up 479lb-ft another 26lb-ft to hit 505lb-ft. I think it’s possible, will be interesting to see if Toyota wants to be aggressive or not.

I guess that’s just an extension of the Toyota HD truck dream we all have. Same as the diesel option, about a one-in-a-million chance.

Guys. Remember when the Tacoma was redone for 2005? It wasn't well recieved at first. Toyota future proofs their designs. Hell that 2005 is still on par with most trucks and looks better than the Ford ranger 2021 imo. Let not all jump to conclusions yet. I want to see a black sr5

some of you fellas sure are getting mighty upset based off a few pics. might wait to see in person and then be able to rip on the design. sometimes you see a pic of vehicle and think that ain't too bad, but when you see in person it makes ya think who designed that?

it could just be the biggest flop ever for Toyota or it could be a awesome truck. no one knows right now.

Its not like its something our brains can't comprehend from the pictures available to us so far. Wishing for a different result might be just as disappointing to some here it seems.

I showed a pic of this new Tundra to my grandson. I didn't tell him it's the new Tundra. He's only 6 years old. "Grandpa, can I get that toy?"

Can't argue with you there....of course I may be slightly biased

And the advanced technology of power window and door locks are still holding up well today after 19 years and 225k miles.

Fancy schmancy tech. My 2004 had manual windows and locks. Upgrade from my Nissan "Hard body" though which came w/o factory AC. Best color though!

Nice taco, and it had an engine built for a truck application. New tacos have a car engine. Let’s hope the new Tundra doesn’t follow that trend.

That would probably keep me in a Toyota. At the current rate my next truck probably be Superduty with the new 7.3 gasser. I bought JB Taco's Sequoia and put a JRT sound system in it. I have zero reason to upgrade based off of Toyota's current offerings. They are going to really have to make a world beater to make me even consider upgrading in the next few years.

Going from a 5.7 NA engine to a TTV6 car engine will be hard pill to swallow for ones that are paying attention. I’m sure this engine will be fine for the majority Tundra owners. Toyota did the research, hence the removal of the transmission cooler over the past few years. If owners are going to max out the towing, they buy a transmission cooler. Toyota knows how the Tundra is being used.

Everyone is acting as if the 3UR-FE is something special from a design and materials standpoint. Sorry, but it’s not. It’s a light duty automotive gasoline engine, aside from the stroke being longer and tuning being different the 3UR-FE is pretty much identical to the non direct injected UR V8’s.

Same for competing gas V8’s found in most pickups, there’s no special magic formula for a light duty truck engine these days. It’s pretty standard:

1.) Take your already developed car engine that makes good power and has well developed cylinder heads.

2.) Tune the engine to make more power at lower RPM’s. That could be programming of the VVT, different cam(s), or a different size turbo.

That is pretty much it. We’re not talking about the difference in construction between a light duty engine and a commercial engine for medium or heavy duty trucks.

I'm just pointing out a fact in response to the post prior to mine.

Owners regularly deride the Tacoma for having a "Camry" engine and how poorly suited a car engine is for a truck.

And I'm pretty sure both of y'all would be unhappy with the current Tacoma and it's Camry motor, so I don't get the concern over what I said?

I have chatted with a LS500 owner about the new Tundra engine, when I ask if he thought the power would be sufficient in a 3 ton truck, he wasn't sure, according to him, it's "sufficient" in a LS, but definitely not mind blowing.
So, y'all better wait to drive the truck before immediately defending the engine choice.

I don't have any skin in the game other than to remind someone who says something like "as long as they don't use a car engine in it" that the engine actually is from a car. And it's not amazing in that car, go study up on the LS... Most reviewers on car mags or YT videos don't think the engine is remarkable. And that's in a car.

While all true, the 3UR-FE is arguably the most reliable V8 produced in the last 20 years, if not longer. It has adequate power and it is the most reliable V8 as a whole it there. Plus it sounds amazing.

Seeing it in person isn't going to fix that rear bumper need quarter abomination. For a truck I just don't even understand what they were thinking with that design, seems so vulnerable to damage vs just a regular wrap around bumper.
