I just picked up an 08 and am very happy to have a v8 again. But this stock exhaust has got to go and I'm not spending solid money just to hear a little more rumble coming from the exhaust.

Sometimes I have to leave at 4am and need something that is not going to wake the kids, or the neighbor kids.

Looking at just cutting out the stock muffler and dropping in a replacement with some wide clamps.

I really like the Magna flow low key sound, but their exhaust lay out and diameters that are available don't make for an easy modification.

Thinking about rolling the dice with a FLowmaster 50. Just have to bend a connector pipe that used to exit from the passenger side to a center exit and tie it into the stock exhaust.

Anyone have a super budget exhaust that I can steal ideas from?

I have a Y pipe to a 22" cherry bomb on my '07 4.7L, it sounds very nice, got a nice rumble and opens up with getting on the gas

I have a cheap $30 turbo muffler from jegs on a chevy 350 and it sounds good. I think it's just a flowmaster 44 clone. I ran no muffler on a different 350 and it sounded great with the cats still on it.

The tundras have a weird high idle when you start them. I can see that being annoying at 4am. I havent modified the exhaust on mine yet for that reason.

    Maybe look into electric cutouts?

Like I told my niece recently, successful people wake up early. If you wake them up at 4am you're doing a good thing for them.

I like the muffler swap idea. I did it on my 4.7 and its hard to beat the sound, impossible to neat the price.

You know I didn't think of looking at off market mufflers. As long as they are big enough they should be quiet, but as long they are not as quiet as OEM
    I'll check out Jeg's

If I were trying to go budget, I would still try to get the best bang for my buck. Probably a couple of 8 inch straight through mufflers into a custom wye back to the stock tailpipe pipe. I just don’t like mufflers that are two into one. The wye pipe inside the muffler is perforated and I feel will disrupt the flow too much like the stock muffler. Basically simulating the dirty deeds muffler on a budget would be my preference.

I have the 5x11x22 magnaflow. Has deep tone on accel but zero noise at cruising. No drone.

add a y pipe before the muffler if the one you like isn’t avail 2 in 1 out

    LOL I love this...

My neighbors have yet to complain about me leaving between 0430-0530 even on weekends...

I'm rocking straight pipes... I just start it and drive out smoothly through the neighborhood - no unnecessary revving up.

We talking budget here. Flowmax is an off brand Magnaflow. I have used both brands personally and not much difference.
