Gonna possibly need to modify that circuit.

Current truck has 400w AC and 12vdc in the bed, outlets can be powered when truck is off.

Works great when camping with a smoker

Although, now that we're on it, I'm going to violate my own last post and mention that the hybrid is disappointing in that I'm not willing to risk several hundred pounds of dangerous chemicals right under my kids asses. Sorry, I know all the engineers and mechanics are going to crap on me telling me how safe it is and how I have nothing to worry about but eff that. I have trust issues... lol.

It's not the lack of under seat storage I worry about (I have the CM now, there's none in my current truck) but nasty chemicals don't belong in the cab.

TFL Trucks put a video out on it. The base engine makes 389 hp and 479 ft lbs

Have you thought about just having a shop take the grille surround off and painting it to match?

I thought about that when I saw that the grill was grey on some models and not chrome. If they can paint it grey, you can have it repainted to match.

you're not the only one, I wouldn't be too enthused about a giant battery in the cabin underneath my kids either.
The lack of underseat storage is just a bonus :/

I think where people get frustrated when comparing Ford is that you can spec a 4x4 crew cab short bed F150 with 2138 lbs of payload.....Thats what I was hoping for....a Crew Cab 4x4 model close to or just over 2K payload. As it sits it looks like (educated guess) that configuration in the Tundra will get. 1500-1700 lbs payload.

Yep, sorry just re read your post haha, i would guess the torque curve will start lower then the v8's once the turbos get spooled up you will feel the torque roll in fast. The ecoboost 3.5's you can feel majority of torque in the high 2000's low 3000....the hybrid number r crazy tho. 583 at 2400....that reminds me of my 7.3 ppwerstroke

you have to subtract some of that 2138 since Ford has always used the magic pixie dust to increase that the second someone else go up, LOl..

but I get what your saying

It's the same for the base engine peak torque at 2400rpm that is 479lb and 389hp at 5200rpms

ya, thats deisel performance like for sure with almost 600 lbs at 2400. it totally sucks it takes away the storage though, I was really hoping this thing would have some storage solutions.

ok thanks, thats good news, if they are getting that at 2400 with the non-hybrid, I bet there isn't much turbo lag at all.

I'm in the same boat about the hybrid. I was 100% for the hybrid until I saw they took up all the space under the rear seats. But they do have some storage behind the back seats from what I have seen in some of the videos... so there is that I guess. Still would like some under the seats.

I do like you can get a 6.5 bed on a crewcab now. I have a 2015 so I'm not used to the under seat storage anyways....

That's a fair point. I'd like to know if there was a standard way of measuring and comparing the numbers. If one is stretching and the other is conservative, they still may not be reliable. It would be interesting to know one way or the other. 2000 pounds seems a lot for a 1/2 ton of any make.

So long as you're comparing the 1/2 ton trucks with similar build specs it's fine to point out the differences.

well hopefully tomorrow we can get more detailed specs during the press conference at 1010am est (21-sep-21). i really hope the non hybrid gets decent mpg behind the hybrid, i do expect it to be better than the 2nd gen 5.7L though. hopefully 17 city 21 highway being low balling i hope.

i dont expect the 24 combine mpg that the hybrid is suppose to get to carry down to the non hybrid.

Not sure if you're trying to say that the torque will be made up higher like the current base engine.

If so, I'm almost dead sure that's not the case. Not only do turbos make their power lower, but from what I've read, Mike Sweers has said that both the base and hybrid engine are more tuned for power, not mileage; and that the power curve, as such, will be more akin to a diesel. That has to mean more TQ lower in the power curve.

(If I'm misreading what you're saying, my apologies.)

Here is an example, I am sure those features etc on a Tundra will not get near that payload, this is just a quick example I could find from google.

its a eco boost, the 5.0 would be higher in same trim. This is where my frustration lies, I am going to wait for the configurator but I was hoping for a hauling package of sorts that could be spec'd in a 4x4 considering the flexibility they could have with the new suspension since I don't want an F150...lol

In my area, most body shops will only do insurance work, they quote way high for anything outside of insurance.

I have a Q60 that I bought an OEM spoiler, Aero rear bumper, side skirts all pre painted and the cost was very reasonable and OEM factory perfect match.

If a Tundra grill is $400 I'd just replace it.
$800+ and I'd have to think twice.
In between I'd probably do it anyway

Yea it's kinda crazy how much thought they put into it, and those numbers are on 87 octane which is crazy no premium required. They put 2x water jackets into head and cylinder wall to help with cooling and exhaust cooling to the turbo to help with heat soak and turbo lag pretty much non-existent given the peak torque at 2400rpms.

that low torque peak and the 10 speed, I bet that thing will have a good amount more off the line power feel that what we have now.

It has me interested enough for a test drive. That is if I can figure out that grill on the platinum, right now stock is a deal killer, lol.

I think SR5 TRD grill insert and color match surround and the platinum in that blue would look nice maybe.

Ahhh, OK, that makes more sense. I'm more concerned about TQ. I thought you might be saying the TQ was at 5200. I was thinking "What?!" LOL

479TQ @ 2400 should be a monster. I'm looking forward to testing it out. Hopefully they won't completely hamstring it by offering 3.31 gears. LOL

that is going to be interesting, a performance exhaust on a 3.4 V6. Keith will have his work cut out for him making that sound good, lol.
