Tow hooks might have weighed enough to keep it on the ground though!?

Same decision direction for me. If I feel I need more power the Magnuson is the path I will take. I seriously don't see the need for more power.

You can only get so much power out of a gallon of gas. More power or more MPG. It's an "or" situation.

If you want to use the power you dump the MPG. If you want good MPG you can't use the power.

I also see people talking about "Tuning" the ECU. This whole year the US EPA has been cracking down on companies that do tuning on diesels and I'd expect that crackdown to expand. Tuning a modern vehicle is going to be a thing of the past.

It was brought up before, but without the picture. What I really want to know is what all options and trim line you need to get in order to not have any blank switches on the line of switches with the hazard lights. None of the videos I have seen have all of them filled in. That is one of my pet-peeves is having blank/dummy buttons especially on a "fully loaded" vehicle... it like WTF did I not get with this?

At risk of being scolded by the experts....

I bought my Titan 12 years ago. This is before people poured over every doting detail.
I could, and did, fit my DRZ400 and my son's Yamaha quad in the bed, then hooked up my boat and did several big weekends 300 miles round trip.

Loaded the bed with landscaping stones until on bump stops several times,
Pulled fully loaded 4 yard dump trailers with the truck bed loaded several times.

Old girl never broke a sweat.

Now that I have heard so much about capacities recently, I realize my truck, like the Tundra, has fairly low capacities and I definitely overloaded it many times.

I guess it matters if lawyers get involved.

When does auto 4 kick in? Not when your rear tires start spinning?

My Tacoma has the standard TRD tune and it's plenty fast. Getting the blower on the Tundra would scratch the itch to get a new truck and turn the 5.7 into a speedy, towing beast.

The biggest risk is when an accident happens. These days when someone pulls out in front of you, and you hit them, 1mph over speed limit or 1lbs over GVWR, and they will shift part of the blame.

It definitely will. I'm interested to see what they do with it. My wish is a wheelbase equivalent to the 200 series with the v35a and about 7500 towing. What we'll get will be a similar wheelbase, turbo'd 4 cyl hybrid, and 5k towing.

I'm guessing all Toyota body on frame models sold in North America on the TNGA platform get a hybrid option.

Before the Tundra I had an 2004 and a 2015 Titan. Both were flawless for me and I tow a bass boat all over Texas. Toyota is a huge sponsor for bass fishing so I made the change into a 2019 TRD Sport.

I didn't do links and panhard lifting my 4Runners, just Toytec BOSS lift coils/shocks. Added Firestone airbags to help with trailer tongue weight and cargo, airbags help sway control also. I removed the stock rear swaybar to allow more droop offroad, found the 4Runner solid rear axle can droop about 3-4 inches more with the swaybar removed, a good thing.

Problem with that was the stock rear brakelines were the only thing holding the axle from full droop, not a good thing. Toytec braided extended rear brakelines cured that.

I'd bet some of the first modified tundras we'll see will be the pro anglers. Toyota really puts money in the sport and those boys aren't afraid to pay for a custom lift to show off their sponsors

This other video does not show the sticker very well but in reading it he says the red limited short bed hooked up to the airstream has a payload of 1450lbs at the 2:51 mark.

    https://youtu.be/AP3A2bxb7Ms

oh and I believe the Airstream is a 26U which has a tongue weight of 903 lbs

You're probably right. If they were going to put that (IMO, awful) engine/transmission combo from the Tacoma into the 4Runner, they could have already done that. Since I don't think Toyota is going to design an engine other than the 3.5, my guess would be the new 4Runner would have a hybrid system with it, probably to augment the power of the engine.

Yikes, that is the LAST thing you should ever ask. That's like saying "I'm bent over, how deep you looking to go?"

Instead go in and ask how much they'll take off the MSRP even if you think you already know the answer. Like I said a few pages ago, we're not helping matters assuming MSRP is the new "good deal." Don't accept that. Yeah, I'd like a new truck myself but not if that is the way I have to buy it. Hell no.

The 4 runner will probably get 2 or possibly 3 engine choices, the 3.5 twin turbo, 3.5 hybrid and possibly the 4 cylinder turbo they will put in the next gen tacoma. The next gen Tacoma will get a turbo 4, and a hybrid or possibly EV choice.

May sound weird to Tundra owners, but my Titan being so reliable is why I won't buy a domestic, and I am convinced the Tundra is better choice for me because it seems Japanese brands are good at making reliable half tons.

The next Tacoma and 4Runner may get the new 2.4T that's doing duty over at Lexus.

Strongly doubt Toyota will put the 3.5 TTV6 in either one!

Has that really ever happened? I've heard people using it as a reason not to go over the limits, but there was also a lawyer on here years ago that said there had never been an actual case of a individual being sued for being over weight. Maybe if it were gross negligence but let's be honest 90% of the 1/2 tons that are towing travel trailers or boats are over payload.

The reason I said that they may put it in the 4 runner is that they have a history of putting more powerful engines in the 4 runner over the years (V8) to separate it a little from the Tacoma. So I think it may be about 50/50 that you see a different engine available in the 4 runner that you can't get in the Tacoma.

You just need a little patience, all will right itself in due time, it may be sooner than later. MSRP's may go up, but I think you will start to see discounts off MSRP sooner than later, its already happening with some models and brands. The market is cooling a bit.

No one that I know of has ever been able to show a case where this has happened, most states laws don't even have provisions for overweight "Passenger" vehicles.

Why is asking if they are going to do a markup a bad thing? I would rather know now and not waste any of my time with them. You are going to either know now or when you go to purchase your vehicle. The next dealer is never too far away for you to take your business to especially if the dealer that is closest to you it playing games with the price.
