Yesterday I added some Sylvania LED bulbs to the the truck (brake lights, turn signals, bed lights, 3rd brake light, tag lights, reverse lights, corner marker lights), I added a load equalizing resistor for the flashers, and I added an OEM power lock for the tailgate. Now when I exit the truck, I can’t lock it right away with the key fob, I have to wait about 20 seconds before the key fob will respond to me pressing the lock button. How could this be related to the LED’s?

    Any idea what’s going on?

I found this thread https://www.tundras.com/threads/delayed-door-locks-after-tpms-sensor-change.92159/ which sounds very similar to my issue, but it doesn’t tell what the resolution was…

LED bulbs in the cargo lights mess up the wireless signal for the remote. There are a few threads on this, but the easy fixes are put the halogen bulbs back in for the cargo lights, buy LEDs that don’t interfere, or turn off the cargo lights.

I just determined that as long as the interior lights are on, I can’t lock the doors. As soon as those interior lights are off, the doors will lock.

Good call! Any ideas what LED bulbs don’t interfere?

It’s kind of hit or miss. I used these and they worked fine, but YMMV

I am sure that it is located in one of threads, but I found a video on YT from a dealer who showed a simple fix with aluminum foil in the third light to help so the bulbs will not interfere with the signal. My bulbs worked perfectly, but lately it can be a problem from the rear. I never have a problem with the remote from the front. If I have an issue from the rear, I will usually point my remote lower and it will work. My exterior bulbs came from Amazon and I found them usually below in the sponsored links. My interior bulbs came from eBay that I bought for my 2015 that parted out and used in my '21. I hope you get it resolved soon as it can be a pain.

I guess I should be specific when talking about this in case anyone comes across this thread. The ones that causes interference are the Sylvania Zevo 921. The regular Sylvania 921 LED bulbs though not nearly as bright, do not cause the interference issue.

There are several brands of leds for the cargo bulbs that cause interference. Vleds has non-RF bulbs that will work. The interference is caused due to the receiver being mounted above the headliner near the shark fin. I am still looking into this because I saw some videos that say it is mounted in the C-pillar aft of the rear doors.

It’s the leds in the cargo light. The sensor for the key is located near the cargo light. Cheap leds interfere with the transmission of the key fob while the light is on. Leave the switch in the off position unless you need the cargo light. Or, Vleds make cargo lights specifically for tundras to combat this.

The original Vleds cargo lights interfered as well. I switched to their non-RF bulbs, but think I may switch back to their High output bulbs that I originally had and just turn the switch off. Did they move the sensor to the headliner on the 2020/21? I saw a video where the 19 and older has it in the C-piller.

It’s been in the headliner since 2018 at least. I thought they moved it out of there for the 2020+, but apparently not.

It's confusing as hell. Someone with a 2020 pulled the headliner for sound matting installation....I wonder if they would remember lol.

I’m not so sure that it’s just “cheap” LED’s. The zevo line from Sylvania are their premium LED’s. On top of that, their cheaper version doesn’t interfere.

I have the updated ones, I'm just not impressed with the lack of brightness compared to the original high outputs that I had.
