Per normal, stuff took longer than I hoped for. Some bolts to tend to, and I probably won’t get the bed on as soon as I like, but things seem to be going well.

@daveeasa - any reason I can't ditch the fuse on the Switch Pro 9100 4 ga power cable and use a breaker instead? It's a 125A inline fuse and I'm thinking a 120A breaker. I see breakers on tons of builds, but I can never see if thats for the aux fuse blocks, or actually straight to the SP. Almost sounds stupid to ask, but what do you think?

They are sticklers on this one I believe, probably b/c of all the people who make a mess of things. Kinda your call I think. I did MRBF fuse + their inline fuse (ANL I believe?)

A 125 breaker is OK by me but I guess it does add extra "stuff" which they will be cranky about so don't tell them?

Maybe we should delete these posts? :)

FWIW, I did the ground to the fender bolt rather than the negative terminal on my Tacoma. Then again I'm currently using exactly 0/8 circuits right now so if something were wrong I wouldn't know.

But yeah, electrons and breakers aren't rocket science right? Just don't overload it and the thing should work fine. And I've heard good things about them honoring problems / warranty.

Sweet David, thank you! I'll likely just run their power cable direct, but it's on the short side, so placement may change that...I'm a while out on the whole project. But, I can't stop thinking about it. I would love to see your setup.

My Tacoma build thread is here, I think I have a few photos of the switch-pros. But since I'm not using it for anything yet, probably nothing terribly useful in there.

These bump stops compress quite a bit.

27F battery tray. Should work, but 5/16” taller than the 24F OEM

    What material? 5/16” steel?

I need a solution for my 31 and the Rago cage doesn’t really get me there. Currently running no tray.

I had some G10 sitting around. I think some electric/circuit boards are made of Micarta. I didn't have a big enough piece of that. But they are both just fancy reinforced epoxy. Probably an expensive option to buy.

Compared to the $200 group 31 cage which doesn't help me? :)

    I'll look it up.

You can find natural color Micarta in a 12x10 or 12x12 for cheap. It’s kinda brown. I think Amazon may have it. 3/8 is pretty stout. 1/4 would be borderline thin.

I would send you this but it’s a little short. The natural is lighter, but it all works. Cut it with a wet tile saw if you have one. Mills and drills great.

I would bet the AG MD springs will tow far better than your stock leafs and AALs. I went that route originally and all I did was waste my money. Should have gone AG from the get go.

Surprisingly my leafs seem to handle towing very well. But they weren’t in bad shape when I got the truck.

nice progress so far. i was able to nicley fit 27f in my 2000 tunny years ago in the factory oem tray. iirc it weighed about 52lbs vs 37lbs for the 24f. makes a big difference in handling

Thank you @Punk1974. My tray was about an inch short, probably good though - made me reinforce the area. Yeah, I didn't weigh them but it's pretty heavy. 15 more pounds seems about right.

Thanks @Diablo 169. I can't see why it would be a problem, but ever run a breaker to a switch pro instead of the supplied inline fuse?

I haven’t pulled the trigger on a switch pro yet, but I talk to them every year at KOH and they do always bring up over loading it and to make sure to run relays for any of the high amp items.

I prefer the breakers because you can turn them off and kill all accessories for storage.

Yea, @Diablo169, compressor and such on relays for sure. Thanks again!
