For my amp ground I’m going after a stock ground with a Toyota ground bolt, and a bit o dielectric on top to hopefully prevent the corrosion that always happens.

I’ll be looking into a way to mount a sub. The amps easy… it already has velcro on it. So fuck it

I have holes in the bottom of my Tundra for JL 300/4 series. Under the passenger seat. I’m a little ashamed of it. Haven’t decided yet what I’m going to do about it now. Didn’t hit anything cause I was careful and it’s Cali so no rust but still, not first class on that move.

Went through (unplanned) axle seal hell again. They're in at least. Gonna play around with the parking brake tomorrow.

Trucks totalled. Give it to Todd, I’ll have him bring it to me next spring.

I wish I had pics of what happened to one of my friend's g/f back in the day, pre-digital cameras. Had one of those big-finned Coustik (sp?) power logic amps under his passenger seat, velcro'd down. Rear ended someone stationary doing about 40mph. Amp came loose, and the fins went right into her feet, really thrashed one of her Achilles.

They have a lot stronger velcro these days, but I won't do it for the same reason I wouldn't ride around with my dog in my lap. I've read too many horror stories about ER docs pulling people's chihuahua or pug out of their body, piece by piece after the airbag deployed. (My dog weighs 55lb tho)

I'd love to see a pic of a bare floor. I meant to ask one of our AZ members for those. Someone in AZ with an Access cab, I think in red, has had the carpet up and took pics. I was curious if there were any capture nuts, studs, or threaded bosses came on the floor from the factory that would make good mounting spots.

Well see what I do. The amp itself looks like it wouldn’t physically be able to fly through the opening at the bottom of the seat. Plus. This things absolutely tiny

One other opting is mounting it on the seat. Not sure how hot it gets. But it’s a feasible option

Ah - this is that Punch 250 or whatever you got paid to pull? Yeah, that thing isn't weighing much. As long as you're not running it down to 1ohm or less on the load, it should be fine under the seat. I'd build a bracket towards one side of the seat, using the two bolts closest to the center console. Or just mount under the center console if your truck would support it. That's usually where I'd put my DSP and other stuff for installs.

That's funny, I was trying to remember what amps I was running back then with the CVs. Coustic. Those were sweet budget amps.

i want a wee bit of airflow over the unit. console is already in a hot spot of the truck when its running. we'll see. i still need to see if the 5" deep focal sub will fit under the front seat.

I thought I took the carpet up. It’s pretty easy in the RC w seats out. Nothing there to bite on other than the center rail and seat bolts. I should have done double sided tape and brackets with studs through the carpet. That would have been better. But I just drilled it.

I think a 4 ss riv nuts and some goop might be adequate for the future. I believe I still have one good 300/4 amp. I am not sure I siliconed all 4 screws before and the holes have been empty since the amp was removed, not sure how long ago.

Rear wall might be the best spot really but under the seat was acceptable back then. Still has the RCA’s and power but I ripped out all the speaker cables because they looked oxidized.

there are unused 10mm thread bolt holes under the carpet on the RC where buckets would bolt to. i would use that to make a mount for the amp if i absolutely needed to

I don’t follow, my truck seats bolt like I’d imagine a bucket would just an extra slide on the hump for the center. Heck the driver is effectively a bucket.

It was literally one of these exact models, only half as wide as this - I think it was 200-300w or something, this looks like a 600-1000w. The thing was murder, you can see why it mangled her ankles and Achilles. I will say though, these things had credible output. I set him up with 2 x RF Punch 12"s in his old Toyota liftback lowrider and that thing pounded.

8 seat bolts (14mm? Or 15mm?) and 4x 10mm for the slide on the hump. I don’t think there would be any more. I can peek again sometime.

it’d be badass with buckets and center for amp + sub. I knew two kids was a bad idea.

@daveeasa and @alb1k you guys are bringing up memories. I built so many its hard to remember them all. My two favorites were when I built a box for 2 12 Kicker Solo Barrics (round ones from maybe '99) and we ser it up in my buddys 86 tercel hatch. I remember being at intersections bumping hard and some girls were looking at the car next to us thinking it was him. We turned left and they cried laughing.

My other favorite was when I ran a 15 MA Audio in my bug. I was rattling houses down the street but my bug didn't have a single rattle. When I bring that car back to life I am going to build something creative, but not going for that much bass.

And your bench is/was 60/40? Or one piece? I could see the one piece not needing the slide.

one piece. but going to the bench it used the other hole. the two are close enough together that only one is used at a time.

So some good space behind the console on the back cab wall, yes? That’s the ideal spot for the amp I think. Vertical > horizontal.

Yup. These were 8 ohm so it took a lot to push them. We ran some Phoenix Gold 800w amp first and it wasn't happening. We switched to a Zapco and that was the ticket.

How much space do you have to store things behind the center console? I’m guessing 4-5”?

I can see wanting to keep the jack rod thingy but I think it would be low enough to be out of the way.

you’d still have space behind each bucket.

But yeah, I can see how it’d be nice to just stash under the seat and be out of the way.

I may use my desert does it seat molle in the Tundra to secure an amp rack. They annoyed me in the Tacoma because the rear seats aren’t exactly roomy anyway and they made foot space even worse. But nobody sits behind the RC seat :) I’ll have to check fitment.

i keep a backpack full of tools behind the passenger seat, the middle typically holds small part boxes when i pickup parts and behind the driverseat is a small box with some straps.
