    Hi,
I had my garage door slightly closed, forgot and backed out and it did a number on my shark fin antenna on top. A couple of questions:
    1. Other than the dealership, where can I buy a replacement?
    2. Is this a simple unscrew, connect wires type of job I can handle?

    2020 SR5 crewmax 4x4

    Thanks in advance.

I’d like to know if removing it is an option. Could use the extra clearance for future lift kit inside the garage.

    Did you dent the roof?

Reason I ask is this could be a place to leak into the cap due to not being totally sealed.

No, no roof dent and no leaks. Been like this for months.
There internal damage because radio stations now have a lot of static.

Oh no, I have to drop the headliner? Where did you gather this part of the process from?

How do you think you are going to access the fastener that is holding it onto the roof?

I am doing this currently on my Duramax. Have to loosen the headliner in the front to access the bolt/fastener.

Honestly I thought all the work would happen from the outside of the vehicle. My hope was the cover and under components were screwed into place with a wiring harness that would need to be unplugged.

That would be wonderful. Haven't seen that on 3 different vehicle brands that I have or have helped to replace the shark fin/exterior antennae. Not Toyota though, but my money would be on having to get the front part of the headliner down.

I'd be open to that, just not sure how to get started.

100% sure you’ll be dropping the headliner to get to the bolt that holds it to the cab. That’s going to be the requirement whether replacing with a new factory sharkfin or anything else you can find to plug that hole.

in a crewmax, getting the back of the headliner down isn’t that bad really- roll down the back window and work in with a trim tool in the areas by the third brake light and you might get enough movement to do what you need. I’ll bet that the bolt is 10mm head…use a magnetic socket so you don’t lose it. I did something similar when routing an XM antenna out through the third brake light housing on my 2008, but in a DC it was a little trickier.

Doing it purely from the back window you’ll be wiring in the blinds and want to be careful not to mis-shape the liner. To make it easier, you can unbolt the rear seats, push them forward, then pull the trim at the C-pillar on both sides. This gives the liner more room to “drop” as you pop it down from the rear.
