    Hey all,

Just tried to install the RCI Gas tank skid for my 2012 Tundra with the 26 gallon tank, and am wondering how the back is supposed to mount. Maybe I am just missing hardware...?

see pics below to where I got to with the only 4 bolts that came with the skid and if anyone knows what I am missing it would be greatly appreciated.

I believe that strap gets replaced with one that came with the factory fuel skip. It has a pair of stubs that point down.

thank you! Just learned this same thing...apparently the TRD package came with this, but my limited is missing it. Wish I would have known earlier. Guess I will have to wait again for this install. =\

Sure did! Changed out the old gas tank strap that didn’t have the studs with a new one that is the same as the one included in the TRD package which has the the stock plastic skid mounted to it.

Did you buy from RCI or the dealer? Do you still have the part #? Did you have to drill a hole to the floor for the front center bracket? What is size of the hole? If you did.
I still the same skid plate.
    Thank you.

Did you have to drop the tank to install the strap with skid mount??
I’ve got the larger tank and have been weary of tackling that project.

no need to drop the tank, just put a floor jack under the rear of the tank near the straps with a 2x4 to disperse the weight before you loosen the straps

Perfect, thank you! I’ll blame / thank you when my wife asks about the large heavy box from rci next week!

I figured something changed in 21. I used some straight sections of my old fuel strap to fab up a bracket. Itll work.

Wished i would have read this before hand. How did you attach yours with the custom bracket, as I find myself in the same situation?

I had the same issue a month ago on a 21. I used a straight peice of aluminum flat and bolted it across the member that's there. Wasn't too hard.

I haven’t started the install of mine yet, but will be looking forward to seeing what you did.

@RCIoffroad - Are you all aware of this? My skid just arrived a few weeks ago and I didn’t realize I was going to have to fab/install an extra bracket to get it mounted properly…

Oh no, I have the 38 gallon. Is this applicable only to the 26?

Looks like a pretty big gap from tank to skid, is that normal?

    Hey there!

Sorry to see the trouble here! We have had a few reports of this issue. It does not seem to be widespread.
What is the year and model options of your specific Tundra?

My 2021 doesn't have that bracket, either.
