Noticed this today. Not sure what caused it and was fairly easy to pop back in, but now there’s a slight dip in the middle of the bulge.

I’m thinking maybe the car wash, though it’s never done that before.

I know a couple of years ago that was an issue but Toyota fixed it with a different clip which is what the 2020's have. We're there any hand print on it like someone tried to steal it but couldn't because of the 3 bolts on the bottom? Yours is the first that I have heard of since the revised clips were introduced. Are any of the clip mounts broken?

It’s fairly common. The molded clips on the inside of the bulge can bend outward and even break. I’ve epoxied mine back together more than once.

The corners are close but exact...I have to pop mine back on every now and again...though, the weight of the NSV might be a potential culprit...easy to pop on...but I never considered one trying to steal it...

The more I think about it, I really think it happened at the car wash on Thursday. Speaking of which, we also noticed a really weird back pressure into the cab during the “dryer” portion of the wash. Never had that happen before and made us think a window was open (it wasn’t). Any ideas??

Never had an issue with mine. But my light bar isn't mounted to the bulge either.

Used to happen constantly on my 2019. If a large truck came from the opposite direction on the highway, it would pop the middle part of the bulge right off. Haven’t had that issue with the ‘21, so you might wanna grab some newer style clips.

Happens on my 2016 pretty regularly and I'll end up popping it back in.

Bought a '14 in '16, this happened to me, turns out where the clips pop into, they get brittle with time, they get hairline cracks, when I was on highway speeds the HB would pop up/out, I did a diy with zip ties it held down for a good while til I bought a new HB, so it's not the pop-in clips, it's the area where they pop into that goes bad, I posted a thread about it, and showed pics on what I did to hold it down

Do you have a schematic or pics of the changed clip design?

I just picked up some new clips that were a close match at the auto parts store. They've been working great for over a year now, bulge hasn't popped out since

My 2014 did that a lot.
It started about 2 years after replacing the chrome SR5 stuff with a color-matched bulge and a TRD Pro grille.
I replaced clips in the hood bulge to no avail.

It ended up breaking at the end where the bolt-in fastener was.
I tried 4 different kinds of glue to get the bolt fastener to stay in place in the bulge mount.
It would hold a few weeks then the middle would pop out again on the way to work.

I wish I would have taken pics of it.

I ended up buying another color match hood bulge earlier this year.
    It hasn't happened since.

This is allegedly the correct part if you want to try new clips..

Now you have me thinking because I don't recall...does the new bulge come with clips and are they the correct ones?

    It came with new ones.
I bought the same clips for the old one and it still popped out.
My issue was the broken tab on the bulge that holds the speed nut, what they call the front molding nut #7..
I couldn't find a glue to keep it in place.

Mine does it every time I use the car wash. Going to check into the clips above. Hope that fixes it.
