I have that exact set up, in my mind at least. Last night in my dream, it fishtailed and killed a bucket of kittens. Does that count ?

Daniel, Above is all you need to know.
34 feet is a long trailer for a Tundra or any half ton, but you probably know that. However I see half tons pulling trailers like that every long interstate trip. You also likely know your payload and if your truck as configured will handle the 1200lb loaded hitch weight. @rockmup may be on to something, a vision like the precrime oracles perhaps?

Makes me think of that old saying

Salient points brought to bear by @frichco228 . I think most of those concerns can be mitigated by the proper ATF cooler/engine oil combo.

How about tow hooks? Whether you know it or not you could be offended an entire group of Tundra owners by the simple oversight/omission. :boink:

Pull it? Yes. For how long? Probably for a limited time. There is a reason sailboats have that massive fin on the bottom!

everyone's comments point to the fact that towing a 34ft trailer with over 1000lbs of tongue weight is too much for a half ton truck, without actually saying that.

But I just did so Ill take the heat. So, that would be a trailer for a HD truck, not a half ton and certainly not a tundra since they are a bit weaker on payload vs some others. Can you tow it, yes and people do tow that big with half tons. And it will tow fine until it doesn't. Bad conditions, emergency maneuver or braking and the Tundra may not be able to control such a large trailer making it a risk to you, your family and anyone else around you on the road.

Can sum it up in 7 words- use the right tool for the job. And a half ton truck is not the right tool.

Actually, all that and more for many of miles. The main difference is I was pulling with an adequately equipped F450 flatbed dually not a Tundra. I already said your truck can pull it, but I also said for a limited time. Again, what do you have to lose? Evaluate carefully!

I’m sure the Tundra was perfectly fine and operating fully within its capabilities while getting 5 mpg.

Whew, I feel better now knowing you have 5 hours of experience with
My advice is to either get a smaller trailer or a bigger truck, considering your experience level, maybe both! The truth may hurt, but your current combination is simply going to eventually have an unhappy ending if you continue to go with it as is. Just because you did it momentarily or saw someone else do it momentarily does not make it doable repeatedly without consequences. You have too much to lose and losing sucks balls and chokes on them! Good luck and feel free to inquire if you want prior to your next move.

I’ve actually towed many trailers with tundras and biggest before this one was 30ft and I have been caught in 40mph winds on a 5hr drive at night time but I had the proper WDH set up. I have years of experience in towing boats to 7 other trailers but never over 30ft

    Pulling 10K# with a 2019?!

He must have the largest ATF cooler in Middle Earth/Midgar!

As was stated long ago by a stalwart Tundras.com alum: Tundra is pulling champion.

Just because you can doesn’t mean you should……and it’s obvious you feel safe and experienced. It’s also obvious that you don’t give a rats tail about anyone else on the road…..no chance should any half ton tow that trailer.

OP - what I see is that you are not getting many responses from people saying "yes" they tow something that big with their Tundra. Probably for a good reason.

I normally tow my 4800 lb travel trailer with 580 lbs tongue weight. Last year I towed a friends trailer 30 miles for him. It was 7500 lbs with approx 890 lbs tongue weight. I set up the WDH properly for the new load. I can tell you that I had much less control than I do with my lighter/smaller trailer. So I imagine that an even heavier/bigger trailer would be even more difficult to control. Control is a sliding scale. I think most of us that have towed for a while would not want to tow that trailer with a Tundra for anything other than a very short distance and very infrequently. I think you acknowledge the sketchyness of doing that yourself by posing this question.

Currently, I am debating between purchasing a 22 Tundra or buying an HD truck. I want the Toyota reliability/resale, but am also thinking ahead at possibly buying a bigger trailer (something in the 8000 lbs range). I have a refundable deposit on a 22 Tundra, but know that I will not feel comfortable towing the trailer I want with it. Tough decision. Good luck to you. I hope you are able to do that safely for the sake of your family and others on the road (sincerely).

Size is 9/10's of the issue. No WDH will change the size of the sail. Just rethink and correct your mistakes so you can move forward. Some financial loss is far better than a total fricken disaster.
