I found a dealer who will order a truck for me so I’m doing my build on the Toyota website looking for a Limited with TRD OFF ROAD I’m trying to add the sunroof but it keeps telling me it’s only available with white exterior does anyone know if this is true I don’t see what the paint color has to do with the sunroof

I am trying for a similar build, running into problems with color and packages. Limited Lunar Rock Crewmax with 6.5 bed, and the full set of packages (TRD Off Road, Panoramic Roof, JBL Audio, Limited Premium and Limited Power packages). It is impossible to configure in this way (in this color) except for some Zip codes. I was able to configure it using a Los Angeles zip. A dealer there could order it, but not for out of state residents. I find it infuriating that only some regions can order certain builds. Is there a way to search all Toyota dealer inventories (in all states) using a single database? This would make it so much easier to contact dealerships directly re: trucks they have in stock. Thanks for any tips; Taiko

@Taikowaza is explaining what most of us have seen. Many options and specific builds are region dependent. I’d recommend checking the different regions to see what’s available (a PITA, yes, I know), and then find a dealer in the region where you can get what you want. Just be thankful you aren’t in Canuckistan.

Infuriating is a good word I’m looking to do a fully loaded Limited but unfortunately I can’t find the right combination I’d rather not go out of state because I found dealer close to me that will work with me I’m going to check with them to see what they can do

I have a limited w/ Sunroof & TRD Off-road in Lunar Rock. It’s totally possible but I think the build tool is kinda goofy. Instead of selecting the individual options, I think I remember I had to selected the TRD off-road with options that included the sunroof and radio and whatnot.

I wanted same build in red, but not in my region! I had placed deposit prior to the website going live, after dealer confirmed that Toyota won’t make it for them in red.

but lunar rock is an option. Try 07436 and my dealer is msrp no mark up with 1k deposit

I had the same experience trying to order a nearly identical truck. Couldn’t get the TRD off road package on the Limited with the pano moon roof, JBL, Limited Power, Limited Premium. And if I’m going to pay $59k for a new truck, it better be exactly what I want.
In my searching experience I found you couldn’t build this truck online with my zip code, but you could with a California zip code. I was prepared to settle for a different package configuration. But in my research I contacted every dealer in Oregon and half the dealers in Washington (I live close to the border). Most refused to request a build, said they couldn’t, said Toyota wouldn’t, etc. The kind of excuses and lies you expect to get from someone who knows they’ll be able to sell whatever truck lands on their lot for the next year.
Finally I found one guy at a dealership 4 hours away from me who was willing to put in the request, but he told me it was a crapshoot as to whether or not Toyota would build it. I wait till early January when he gets his next allocation and he contacts me asking if I’d be okay with a white truck. But then, the next day he tells me he was able to get the color changed to Army Green.
So now I’m 45 days (give or take) from getting the exact truck I want at MSRP without obnoxious dealer packages added, despite the fact that it’s not technically available in the region.
So the moral of the story is, if you are particular, prepare to call everyone, wait, and be willing to drive hours to get your truck.

Try Cars.com to search for what you want. Then call the dealers. That is how my wife found my truck.

Frustrating that unrelated items are not available with certain packages or colors.

Probably gonna have to set up some kind of co-op or buyers club of Tundra customers.
Guys getting trucks in some areas others can't so you find a guy who can order a truck from his dealer with what you want and you can order a truck he can't get but you can and swap trucks plus or minus any cash difference in prices...???

The local dealer I am working with cannot get a limited or SR5 in the configuration I want. Is there a downside to traveling to an out of town dealer? The toyota care (2 yrs / 25K mi) mentions "see participating dealer for details". The local dealer is great but cannot get the truck package I am looking for?

It's early in the model year...a few wrinkles to iron out in production (waste gates in turbos?)...wait till summer and more trucks start flowing into the pipeline...

Thanks kmangino47 for sharing your zip where it’s possible to configure the loaded lunar rock Limited 6.5 bed. You were right, it worked! I contacted a dealer there, very friendly. I was told that only SR5 models could be special ordered at this time, and that there were a premium (above MSRP) charge. I’ve run into similar issues when contacting dealerships in other states. To speed things up, I’ve been looking on cars.com (thanks firearrow!) to try and find already built models. In the past I used to use Autotrader, but it seems to be filled with clickbait these days. If you have any other recommendations re: apps for searching inventories, that would be warmly welcomed. Last, is anyone on the fence re: waiting to see hybrid model MPG and pricing? Knowing that a potentially better version of the truck I want may be released in just a few months is somewhat challenging to consider. T
