Ive waited almost a year for the release of the 2022 and now that its out it looks so much smaller than the previous gen truck or is it just me ? The inside cabin seems smaller and the back seat is definitely smaller...I really wanted to get a new 2022 but now thinking about a 2019-2021 instead. Any opinions ?

Pickuptrucktalk has the dimensions listed. There's difference between '21 and '22.

‘22 CrewMax is a larger overall truck compared to the ‘21 CrewMax version but with less interior space and a shallow bed - riddle me that one….

But the '22 has a flat rear load floor instead of the mind numbing stupid rear floor design of the 2.5 Gen that isn't useful in any situation.

But I want a truck to look like a truck, needs to be higher than a honda accord.

Doesn't the 22 have a big hump for the transmission?

Drove one yesterday.... it is the katz azz !

It is noticeably smaller inside than 2.5 but longer on the outside.
I didn't have the chance to test it but I heard another 4' of turning radius is lost as well. :(

It has 2 feet of false front end where the v8 use to sit.

From the cab perspective, it's basically a SUV now ( read soccer mom mover), with a vanity nose and a smaller truck bed out back.

Yeah.... front end does nothing for me.... there are two humps in the hood as well that start at the corners on the windshield side and angle in toward the center of the hood limiting the view straight ahead over the hood from where you and the passenger sit.. (for me at least )

Soccer mom will be moving with great speed and comfort however ! :burnrubber: No more need for a V8 and the mpg's is gonna grab me.

2020 or 2021 have more upgrades than a 2019. At least the SR5 TRD does.

All of this has me seriously considering picking up a lightly used '21 instead of going for the '22. Am I crazy? Someone talk me out of it.

Get the 21 but make sure you check the vin for the power steering recall that is ongoing for a limited number of em.

    In progress…
If I’m honest with myself I remember when the 2nd gen Tundra debuted I hated it for one reason; I thought it was the ugliest truck ever. Fast forward to now, I love my ‘21. I also don’t particularly like the new Tundra because once again (IMO) Toyota has created another butt ugly truck. Who knows, if they refresh the design in a few years and it no longer looks like the premature offspring of an F150 and a Ridgeline, I might just buy one and love it more than the one I have now. Who knows?

Less usable interior room and more useless bulk on the exterior, that's what Toyota's customers want...right?o_O:facepalm:

    Too many, but not enough....
All of these numerous issues is the reason why i wanted to get the 21. Also, the V8 was a must for me and the aging design and platform to me equates to reliability, which is why I think alot of ppl go to toyota in the first place. I have not regretted getting my dinosaur 21 even for a second. I would advise you do the same, unless you can wait a couple years for the 3rd gen to work its bugs out.

‘22 Tundra looks smaller because the ugly ass grill is so big. What was Toyota thinking?

Been waiting almost a year, eh? I've been waiting two decades for a Tundra I like better than my 2000. Still waiting...

When they do this to any vehicle - whether for safety, cooling, or just design - the space taken up has to be sacrificed somewhere else.
The Cab and Bed appear to be the victims. Myself I was thinking of trading in my Crewmax originally (back in Dec 21) for a DC. But my 90 lb dog didn't approve of the amount of space back there especially with the permanent storage frame they installed under the seats.
I will add anyone coming from a smaller vehicle or other brand (F150, RAM, GM) may not notice as much as the Tundra was class leading in Cab Size before. A 2.5 gen owner will notice however.

I sat in a 21 Saturday. I would say if the ONLY thing holding you back is the leg room I wouldn't worry about it unless you and all of your family/ friends are really tall. I'm 6'1" and 5 people my size would be plenty comfortable in the space that is there. Is the back seat leg room absolutely massive like the previous gen? No, but it had decent space still and I wouldn't worry about passenger comfort on a 5 hour drive which is about as far as I regularly go. Still more room than most suv's minus a 3rd row. I like the new interior better, more power and MPG is a plus. The biggest issue for me is unknown is overall reliability of the 2022 vs 2.5 gen.
