Hey y'all I'm looking to upgrade my head unit for my 2013 tundra and wanted yalls opinion on what you think is the best out there, also what's the best in adorable options would be good too. Much appreciated! Here's a picture of the stock head unit (at least I think it's stock) 20210529_164806.jpg

The best HU is highly subjective. I have always preferred Pioneer HUs, though.

I went for the Phoenix PX6. It replaces the climate controls so it's the most drastic interior makeover, if you want that.

I installed a wireless remote control so I have a physical volume knob. I also added front and rear cameras, a powered subwoofer, and external WiFi so I can have Carplay and WiFi at the same time.

It's easy to install but you can spend days tweaking it if you want to... I think I'll write a tutorial for it.

    That is nowhere near OEM.

I have had every major brand. I always return to Kenwood.

What model is that? Also it looks like it fits the original cutout for it too, what are the functions and features of it?

Ah so that's the OEM one, gotcha. Do you happen to have a picture of it installed? Like the Kenwood?

I Google searched the part number on the corner of the OP's radio. It is out of a Sequoia.

Do you have any more information on this headunit? I've seen many variations on Ali, ebay and Amazon but would be interested to know if you have any insight or a preferred source.

So the previous owner took the head unit out of a sequoia and just flat out slapped it in the tundra. Great, I had no idea that it was from a sequoia that's actually pretty funny. None the less that just proves i need a new head unit. Do you have any opinions on either kenwood or pioneer?

Do you have a link for what you used for the front camera? I'm looking to pick this HU up but I didn't see a front camera kit from Phoenix.

I already have a rear camera btw.

If you have OEM rear camera it likely won’t work with the Phoenix Tesla style unit. That’s one thing that turned me away. Wanted integration into factory camera. Ended up going with the Dasaita unit.

    NATIKA Backup Camera, IP69K... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07GRRP1LM?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It’s out of stock. You need any camera with the yellow RCA composite video cable that gives you the OPTION to flip the video feed (usually by cutting a cable). Many of them are only backup cameras so the video is flipped left/right. You want one that is NOT flipped or everything will be backwards which is really confusing. I learned this the hard way.

When I was looking I reached out to them and they said it was not compatible. I went with the Dasaita 10.2” bc it was and seemed to integrate with the OEM CANBus the easiest.

Here is what they said “Yes, OEM backup camera will not be retained. You need to get an after market camera if you would still like to have one.”

If it was compatible, I might have went with it. Although I also have the auto climate control and I’m not sure that the Phoenix unit has that button?

rewatching the videos and their description, it does look like the OEM camera should work! Idk, maybe I read at the time somewhere that it didn’t. But they also confirmed it wouldn’t. Probably would have went with this if I knew it did. I wanted the biggest screen I could get, aside from a floating screen.

I've got the echelon kenwood 1007 and I'm trying to figure out radar and camera options that will plug in...i'm not wild about the kenwood cameras that integrate...Looks like you can plug in 3 cameras with rca jacks.

I have a 2013 and a Kenwood, and fits into the spot where the stock one goes, and sounds good with out all the add on frills.

Recently finished installing a sony XAX-AX100 (same as AX1000, but the 1000 only has carplay, no Android auto). Picked it up used on FB for $120, they can be found easily for under $300. Not as big as some of the head units shown on here but huge upgrade having android auto and a backup camera.

Radio and a Tailgate Masters backup camera + a few hours of DIY install was a great upgrade for $200.
