I am about to pick up a RCSB tundra this weekend and I am already thinking about what route to go for exhaust. I have narrowed it down to two options. Option A: The ever popular DD exhaust (10''), or getting this Magnaflow muffler welded on to the factory pipes. In Keith's video he talks about his exhaust using the same diameter piping as factory to maintain the Toyota engineering. This basically means you are paying $1000 for two mufflers and a joining Y pipe. Options B: would be to buy this Magnaflow muffler ($200 after weld) that will also maintain factory pipe diameter and join the two together in a Y similar to the factory muffler. The only difference I can see is one muffler as opposed to two. I have attached the videos I am using as a reference. I think both the Magnaflow and DD exhaust sound great. Also, both seem like they will improve low end torque according to what Keith explains in his video. I cannot decide... any input would be much appreciated.

If you’d rather have one muffler and no Helmholtz resonator to save money, I’m happy to do that for you. It would save $400 off the cost of our standard systems and it would be a direct bolt on instead of hacking up your factory exhaust and getting exhaust shop quality parts and craftsmanship on your truck.

There’s proprietary reasons for many of the odd design of our systems.

I wouldn’t want a two onto one muffler on my truck. That loses low end torque.

Nor would I want just a single muffler. We used to do it that way, but the dual mufflers is better.

That said, the single muffler and no Helmholtz would be a good apples to apples comparison as far as price, it would get you a better product than you’re comparing us to, and it would save you $$

    call for details. 760-877-4234

Agreed. I’m curious to hear the engineer from Magnaflow tell you why their product is better, a universal product not specifically engineered for a tundra retrofitted to work as well as what we have put hundreds of hours into prototyping. I doubt they’ll come on here since the Tundra was only 12% of the 1/4 ton truck market. Corporations are more about money than they helping their friends make their trucks BADASS.

please don’t see any of the above as a ‘put down’. That’s not the intention. The intention is to put it into perspective.

if throwing some off the shelf parts together worked, I wouldn’t have spent the time designing the ultimate system for tundras exhaust with literally hundreds of options.

I didn’t just wake up one day and decide I was going to start an exhaust company that specialized in tundra exhaust. This situation was born from necessity. I am an enthusiast first. When I wanted what I thought was the perfect exhaust for my 03 tundra, and spent thousands of dollars wasted on stuff that didn’t work, I built my own.

I don’t ‘sell’ anybody anything. I guide them into literally the perfect exhaust for their situation. It’s hard for me to identify as a ‘vendor’, I consider myself a friend.

You will lose low end torque with the magnaflow. BAM may actually gain.

This is true. A big single muffler loses low end torque. Dual in single out loses low end torque. I’ve thoroughly tested this.

I have Keith's 10 inch system. Never heard a cleaner, classier, dynamic sounding exhaust. It's perfect.

I am not offended and I changed my response shortly after posting. I too did not want to come across as offensive towards you. I think your product is great. I was just trying to justify the price. I have bought exhausts for many applications before and yours is fairly expensive considering its just a mid section.

Do you have the helmholtz installed? I was planning on not doing so if I decide to go that route.

I do. No drone at all. U can leave it off and try it and if the drone doesn't bother you you can keep it off. I totally get wanting a cruder sound.

I also was on the fence due to the cost, Keith’s customer service was top notch and he guarantees his product 100% you don’t like it return it. I ended up with the 10in with the resonator installed, sounds amazing. Keep us posted on what you decide. No matter what you choose all mods to Tundras to make them unique are awesome. Cheers

@dirtydeeds would you be able to do a 3” budget dumped long with an x pipe and 10” mufflers? If you could pm me a price for that in stainless and aluminized I’d appreciate it!

My thoughts exactly. I am looking hard at the 10" system for my new 2020 Limited Crewcab. I think you use to give a military/LEO discount. Thanks. Keith is the man.

x3 and he has helped me out with a modified resonator allowing me to shorten the pipe so it’s above the axle and still sound great with no drone. :101010:

cool what did Keith do with the Resonator. I recently cut off the end of the tailpipe to clear the Rxt leafs to just below the spare tire. added some drone but not too bad

Extended it to 32” instead of 26”. He will swap you out a longer one for just shipping or you can have a local exhaust shop cut it and weld in an extension.

Edit - never mind - I see you’re local. Give him a call and I’d bet he will swap it out for you if you swing by his shop.

I had a dual Magnaflow setup on my truck that I was never really happy with. I noticed an immediate decrease in low end torque as soon as the Magnaflow was installed. I knew I had to bite the bullet and accept that the Magnaflow needed to be replaced. Like you, I was also reluctant to spend so much money on the Dirty Deeds setup, it’s definitely not the cheapest option. I wound up ordering the 8” setup with the resonator. I literally could not be happier with the results! It sounds incredible, loud when you want it to be, and mild if you drive it nicely. I just took a recent road trip with long stretches of highway and the drone was nonexistent.

DD 12" system here. Worth every penny.

You're buying a new truck. Enjoy it and buy the best stuff you can for it. There's a reason DD is so loved around here, and it's not because we all love shelling out the $$. It's because he's proven to be worth it.

Duel setup. Do you mean you had two separate mufflers like the TRD set up or did you have the two into one like I originally posted?

You’ll have a hard time getting anybody on here to tell you to get the magnaflow welded on. We do our research and love to save a buck but also know when it’s best to buy once cry once. I’ve got the trd dual setup and got jealous of Keith’s system when I heard it.

Same Keith / Dirty Deeds experience here! Called him up, talked about how my (also worktruckwhite lol) truck is setup, how I plan to use it, will there be kids on board, etc. , what future mods are possible (e..g like super charger). He gave me pros/cons of 8" vs 10" BAM. And if I didn't like my decision could exchange it for the other at anytime! He taught me some in-depth technical reasons why with 37's my truck would benefit from regear and he was reluctant to take my $ for the BAM unless I told him I would regear lol. I didn't buy the gears from DD b/c my local installer really wanted the parts as part of his deal and volume credit with his supplier, but later I contacted DD again just to pick his brain around lubricants and dude is just a helpful wealth of Tundra knowledge. BAM sounds even better IMO with regear as engine revs faster. As far as OP question...Magnaflow I've heard great sounding ones, but have a family member struggling with the drone on his setup. I love the BAM sound, specifically made for Tundra, no drone, great workmanship, easy install, return policy, source of knowledge, etc.

Pretty tough to “rebrand” something he hand builds to order in his shop. o_O

not even mentioning his support of this forum, military vets, first responders, and just being a bad ass dude.
