Where to put switch on a 1794 for the anytime front/rear camera?

I'm planning to replace my head unit with one that includes several cameras, but it hasn't been available for over a year and I don't imagine it will be anytime soon. So for now, I'm thinking of sticking it out with the crap JBL system but at least adding a front camera that is badly needed.

Looking at this Anytime Front & Backup Camera kit:
    https://www.anytimebackupcamera.com...ucts/anytime-backup-and-front-camera-full-kit

For those of you with this kit or similar though, and who have a 1794 Edition, where on earth are you putting the switch?

I am NOT interested in getting a sPOD yet. I know I will need one someday, but not any time soon and I don't want to have to spend the money on it yet. But the 1794 seems to have NO blanks anywhere...

Sorry. Meant to post this in the 2.5 Gen Tundra, not 2.5 Gen TRD Pro category. I keep making that mistake.

Bay Area, but spending a lot of time farther up to the northeast corner of the state in the coming weeks. #astrophotography -- clearer, darker skies up there!

Beautifully done. Not sure I have the courage to cut holes in the gorgeous leather there. But that's a nice way of doing it. Outta curiosity, you have the camera switch, and some external lights. But the rear window switch...did you move it from the dash?

The glass breakage sensor works just as well shoved behind the panel. I did that and used that spot. It's the exact same size.

Here is mine. Out of sight and yet right at your fingertips when resting your arm on the armrest.

Thanks for this idea, like how accessible they are there. Did you have to add wiring to the FRAC harness to reach that location? I'm preparing to install the FRAC on my Platinum. One thought is to push out the glass break sensor with pro of the OEM style switch looking awesome, but would like it a bit closer to finger tips. Another thought I have is above the 4x4 dial where can reach with hand on shifter lever or beside the tow haul but need to see what's back there.

The wires did have to be lengthened a little to reach that spot on the center console below the armrest. Simple to lengthen if you decide to go that route. I have a couple more pictures that might help with the hole placement (let me know if you want me to post those). It's a tight fit in there, but doable.

@Shadowfax1 let me know if you have any FRAC questions. I'll be happy to assist.

FYI, the round switches in the @AZTundra post are included with the basic FRAC kit. You can also add the OEM-style switch shown in the @Piki post.

I have a kenwood 1007 HU in my 19 truck....I recently put in a blackvue 2 channel dash cam. wouldn't mind getting front and rear on demand on my bigscreen. Sounds like I need some wire harness and a front camera????

The FRAC Harness will do that for you. And the Natika Front Camera available on Amazon will fit the bill for a front grill cam. As long as you used plug and play adapters to install your aftermarket HU, the FRAC harness will work great.

How much length did you have to add? I assume one does that by getting another matching wire from any electronics supply store, stripping the ends of both wires, and then soldering them together? Or is there an easier way to lengthen it?

On the front face of the console where you installed those, is there space for standard OEM style switches, or just the round ones you used?

So, how did you actually do this? Were you able to find an aftermarket piece that included the cut-out and mount for switches? Or did you cut the whole yourself in the existing piece using some fancy (and obviously skilled) cutting work? Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s a single piece that includes the chrome box around the shifter and the surrounding leather, all the way down the lower edge below your switches.

a nice front camera is like $40 and it plugs right in to the kenwood. it would be nice to see the blackvue stuff on the screen though once in a while

I actually got my harness from another member on here who had already lengthened the wires and had the switches installed in the same place as mine. If I had to guess they might be extended 2-3ft. You have the correct idea - get yourself some wire and either use crimp connectors or solder and heat shrink tubing to connect them, not hard at all to do.

As for being able to install a standard OEM style switch there I'm not sure. I don't know off hand how they snap into place, but I don't think it would be as simple. Maybe someone else here that's worked with the OEM style switch can speak to that.

Piki, any chance on getting an underneath shot of how the hole was cut, and how the switch box was secured, on your 1794? Looks pretty clean, thanks
