If someone in car parked beside you swung their door into your truck, do you figure these boards would protect your doors at all?

I think it will protect the doors from a lot of vehicles but probably not trucks that are lifted real high. The boards are approximately 6 inches wide with about half of that width extending beyond the doors. The boards are about 15 inches above the ground.

Thanks for the info. Not much will protect from trucks, but I find it's generally people in shitbox cars and vans that like to ding doors.

That plate covers between the frame crossmembers in the area indicated in the picture. Looks like the catalytic converters are protected.

    4. If you look closer at that photo you can BARELY see the first two just ahead of the two covered by a cat plate.

Yes, mainly the 2 rear cats are exposed. If you need a plate, get it from Valhalla, highly recommended!

I like those a lot. That grip tape look is dope. Thanks for sharing. I can mostly get in and out without difficulty, but my girlfriend needs a Sherpa to climb in.

For my Canadian peeps: if you are interested in getting the TRD cast aluminum side steps, they seems to be pretty hard to find at a dealer if they did not already order them. I called my dealer and they said that they had about 190 orders in back order and that it could take a few months to get. For the crew max they quoted me $1520+tax. You could probably get them from sparks and have them shipped to you and pay duties or to the border and install them before driving back to save a couple hundred dollars. I just elected to get them from Canada and I was able to find them at Tacoma Town in AB. Here is the link for both crew max and double cab in case you’re interested https://www.tacomatownonline.com/co...022-c-tundra-trd-cast-aluminum-running-boards

I looked all around the net trying to find a solution for the "live view" not working and it led me here to the Tundra group. I've only been able to browse, download (horrible speeds), and do action recordings.

    The issues I have :

    - The camera's wifi connection. It will say "No Internet Connection" when I am connecting to it from my phone in the settings. Is it supposed to connect to my phone's internet? The subscription? Who knows. That could maybe be the reason my live view isn't working.

    - Transferring/Downloading recorded clips to the app's folder is extremely slow. You're better off taking the micro SD card and retrieving the files from there on a PC/Laptop.

It's a very install and you can actually skip the step of unplugging the harness from the overhead console unit. Just let it hang and continue with the dash cam install. Doing the install within 10-15 minutes is possible.

I found this group trying to find a solution for my live view not working, I just get a loading black screen and it'll say "Dash Cam is not in the recording view". Everything else works fine, although not as good as I expected for the price.

Here's the install video I did if you need a visual. https://youtu.be/4aNg31P9IH0

If during this state, you have directly connected your phone to the camera via the WiFi on your phone, with the camera device acting as a Wireless Access Point (WAP), since the camera itself does not have a connection to the internet, your phone is letting you know that it sees a WiFi connection that isn't providing internet access. If this is the case, that would be normal for this dash cam or any other similar device that offers setup or access connection using the device as a WiFi access point.

This is where a device with connectivity via Bluetooth (while shorter range than WiFi) is a better approach as it lets you keep your phone WiFi or LTE cell signal to maintain it's connection to the internet at the same time.

Does the dash cam offer a Bluetooth connection to your phone instead of direct WiFi?

Or is there a way to connect the dash cam to a WAP (your house or your phone as an internet hotspot)? If so, that may provide the live view and full functionality you are looking for.

I sure hope it doesn’t want you to connect to the vehicle WiFi hotspot (AT&T) as I for one don’t really intend to pay for that beyond the trial period

If it does allow connectivity to an external WAP that provides internet access, the vehicle's WiFi hotspot should be only one of may options you would have. You should then be able to connect it to your home, business, etc. (of course, then only having that enhanced connection when the dash cam is in range of that) or your (or another person's) phone as a a WiFi hotspot (as long as that phone is in proximity of the vehicle).

Having it tied to the vehicle's WiFi/internet subscription would of course seem to be preferred if that subscription was in place but would guess not a requirement.

All this assumes again that the dash cam can be configured to connect to an external WAP...

It sounds like worst case, you can always ignore any wireless connectivity options and just use the storage and access via SD card.

Of course I do not have one myself and cannot confirm connectivity options. Just clarifying what is likely happening and possible options from what has been posted. And hopefully a little help along the way...

@Tundra206, if you can, please confirm the above if you can as I (and others, I assume) like this dash cam package and would like to weigh the functionality against the cost. Your feedback and info is much appreciated!

Thanks for the input either way…gives us a few things to think about regarding getting this integrated option vs aftermarket.

if you have both your WiFi and Bluetooth ON, CarPlay will try to connect, once it does while you’re connected to your DashCam, you will get disconnected from the DashCam itself. In order for me to connect to my DashCam, I have to turn off Bluetooth, hit the wifi button on the camera, open the app on my phone, then connect to the camera’s WiFi.

There isn’t an option to connect via Bluetooth and you won’t able to select a wifi connection for the camera as well.

I contacted the dealer regarding why my live view won’t work and suggested that my camera may be defected. A member on facebook’s tundra group mentioned his worked immediately. Waiting to hear back as to when I could bring in my truck. If they would let me swap out the camera to test, I would be happy.

I do have a couple videos I put together that shows what I’m talking about.

Which mirror mount did you use for the radar detector? And would you happen to know the wiring too?

Take a look at blendmount. Great company and great products. I don't use radar detectors anymore but used this brand on my Corvette. They hide perfectly under the rear view mirror and use the power source from it too so no wiring hanging down the center of your windshield. They also do mounts for dashcams if I'm not mistaken.

Yeah I was looking at them too, but mine has the digital rear view mirror and I don't think it has enough space for it, or I can't be sure to be exact

I’m having trouble activating my gps. Every time I launch it, I get this screenshot. Then when I follow the link to the Toyota app, it take me to the subscription page but there is nothing for gps? Any ideas how to get this to work?
