I tired to squeeze my 35's from my Tacoma but I rub way to much in the front with the stock bumper. Erik, I think you'll be fine moving to 35's with your bumper. I can bring those over too.

 

I just ordered them, They are going to powder coat. Probably have them in 1.5 weeks or less. Now if my tires will fit the 4R on the stock wheel (won't with my wheels) I will be looking very good for something bigger for me sooner.

It just sounds like the easy way to get to 33' Talking to Solo, I think I'll be fine with my wheel offset, It should basically put my clearances where they are now, as long as I don't do something like a 33X12.5

 

Then I'll drive it to @Darkness and he can tell me what to stuff in there, lol.

 

You can fit 33s as is. 34x10.5s probably will fit too. 35s is the gray area. If you get those arms I'll convince you to stuff 37s.

If left to my own devices I would probably pursue solid front axle. Yeah I’m that dumb. Cheaper to just buy a HD truck.

 

Solid front axle is so nice. I loved my 77' Jimmy.

 

@Darkness, Seems to me that with the 1" forward lower ball joint on Solo, and by keeping width to 285mm which is 5m a side wider than what I have now - 285/75/17 could be the perfect tire for me. It's a small 34". About 1.5 " taller than whats on there now.

 

That will fit no problem

 

It gets harder to go bigger as far as I can tell without changing wheels. My 0 offset 8.5s are about 1/2” from the suspension. Like you pointed out, width is probably my biggest concern. A 35 would be killer, but I think I would have to decrease backspace.

285/75/17 is a great size! If it was available in the coopers, I wouldn’t be trying to make the 35’s fit. 285/75 on 17x8.5 SCS wheels with Spidertrax spacers.

 

I’m trying to avoid spacers, so curious to see what the new LCA’s might do. But…if it’s needed and fits, 1.25 wider stance would be awesome. So I guess it’s win-win. What’s your offset?

 

You shouldn’t have to run spacers with the new lca’s. You’ll have plenty of room! They are -10 offset.

 

I wish the Firestone Destination X/T was available in 285/75. Looking at others.

 

If memory serves me right methods 305 17x8.5, 0mm offset, and 4.75 backspace. I’m also running 1.25” wheel spacers

 

You are exactly right. This is one where Ill see what happens with the lower control arms and have the spidertrax on hand.

 

Sounds like either way you will have a slightly wider stance and some bigger tires! Interested to see the lower control arms though

 

One way or another it's going to get better. I have a ton of confidence in Solo Motorsports., but I am very interested in what those arms bring and how fast I can swap them. I'm shooting for under 90 minutes.

I have LT285/70R17/E 121/118R. Ko2s on 0 offset methods 4.75 backspace, with camburg arms

At full lock to the left I rub on the frame. You can see the rub below.


I tried 1.25 spacers but that lasted about 20min. I didn’t fell confident cutting more off the pinch weld. Looked great tho.

I think I’m one Alignment away from having it perfect so no rub. Going to wait for my new steering rack to try again at a new off-road shop. The tech at the shop I talked to also has a 06 double cab.
