I, personally, have zero desire to even test drive one of the new '22s. I loathe the look that much (if you like it, that's cool...it's just not for me). Side by side, it looks almost exactly like a Chevy/GMC truck down to the weird rear window shape...and not to put too fine a point on it, I think the GMC is the best looking truck out of the bunch there, without that comically long front end Toyota put on the new Tundra (I don't know if it was needed to fit all the engines, turbos, gizmos and gadgets...but the front of the truck is as long as the back, which I think looks awful). I think the grill commentary has been done to death at this point, so I won't even go there. The oddly-shaped interior bits remind me of Hyundai's attempt at 'upscale' (Kia blows them out of the water design-wise, but I think they're coming around). I was one of the people that was waiting for this truck, but was sorely disappointed. But the '11...keeps on truckin'? I guess?

I hate to actually say it, but I think the Tundra is IMO the ugliest 2022 truck model out there, excepting maybe the Titan.

I mean, you type this like that's not a big deal. When you live in the middle of nowhere, and can - and have been - stranded 75 miles from civilization in the middle of winter *hoping* someone comes along because you have no cell signal....reliability is a BIG freakin' deal. I'll gladly sacrifice 2 or 3 MPG and some payload for known reliability.

Don't get me wrong - I don't think the new Tundra is absolute crap as far as reliability goes. Even given the whole wastegate thing, I'd still rather put my $ towards a Tundra than any other vehicle. But when your 2020 is paid off, is very reliable, handles a 16-20' trailer just fine....it's tough to justify a new one, even for somewhat better MPG. The new Tundra may be faster, and have more tech and power, but the old one isn't exactly complete crap.

I'd buy a '22 if the entire grille was a ATF cooler.

Most elegantly said sir! My feelings exactly especially since some are early 07-13 owners waiting on this refresh only to see a Tacundra with less room. The tailgate is absurd. Once again the brow on the windshield is horrendous.

It makes the windshield look small and disproportionate.

Every design change is going to leave folks disenfranchised. Toyota is sorry not sorry. Welcome to the future of mid-size Toyota (and perhaps most mid-size) trucks!

Automotive Press YT channels says he heard Toyota is looking at front tow hooks so there will be at least one less thing to complain about ;-)

Wow you're so superficial! Just give it a try. A quick test drive won't hurt anyone. I think you're just scared that you might actually like it.

How would you feel if people judged you based on your looks alone without even meeting you?

I don’t think the truck is gonna care either way. And he has a point - I mean, if he’s gonna look at the truck everyday, he’d better like the look of the thing! And this is coming from a guy who likes the design!

you have to be sitting in the drivers or passengers seat to notice. But if you’re a Gen 2 owner it’s a dead giveaway. Borderline annoying. Not as bad as a Camaro but trending that way. It’s smaller feeling. Every 2022 owner on here knows it. They may not want to admit it but it’s annoying and gives the interior a smaller feel.

If you’re dead on from it in the drivers seat it arches down. Doesn’t have as big of a field of vision as a 2nd Gen tundra or f150

That’s a preference thing as well, I just tested f-150 and tundra and visibility is better in tundra I thought

the last gen (my current rig) doesn’t matter in that regard, it’s what it is going forward, either you like it better than competitors or not, they don’t make they last gen anymore, end of story. You can certainly keep what you have but that’s a different story

Everything V1.0 sucks. Never buy the new hotness when it comes out. It's always all hype and carries a fraction of the capability as advertised.

As a military pilot I've had a crack at some gear that was supposed to be the new hotness and it always turns out to be disappointing. Sometimes even complete crap.

Give it a few years for R+D and "fleet feedback" to marry up though and you'll end up with a winner. This Gen 3 Tundra is no different.

My dog took one look at the arm rest and said, hell no I’m not riding on that. So I kept the 2.5 formerly known as 3rd generation.

this is why I NEED the low floor of my truck.
Forget the armrest. I can't let him sit elevated on the back seat.
I become a licking post, among other things.
the 2022 Tundra no longer has a usable floor. Dammit Toyota Man Buns
