I didn't do any perforation or suede, to keep it more heavy duty.

I ordered a new set so the leather was as fresh as possible.

The katzkin dealer/installer who did the work, ordered me 2 more yards of cognac upholstery to do the door panels, arm rest, and dash trim.

When I go back, I want them to adjust a couple spots where I feel they could have installed it better.

I think the Velcro grooves are a little out of position.

But over all, it made the inside much more comfortable to be in, and the color makes it less clinical and sterile feeling , inside the cabin.

    I'd recommend katzkin.

Very nice. I really liked the Katzkin in my Tacoma and it held up very well.

    The leather set was $900
The heated seat elements and Toyota sized panel switches were $100-120
And the shop charged $400 for labor

And then at installation I decide I wanted to do the arm rest, dash pieces, and door panels

The shop ordered me 2 yards from katzkin of vinyl upholstery for $50

And I want to say he quoted me $300 for the labor to wrap all that stuff.

I liked the cognac color so much, that I was up for doing the rest to get it to look more complete.
I have to go back to get the rest finished.

I had actually ordered a set off of ebay , katzkin in cognac color, for my double cab, and the seller sent me a crew max set. Even though his ad said it's for a double cab.
He totally ghosted me. I couldn't get a hold of him. I felt burned, and mostly stupid to myself. Problem was, I thougt the set was right, and 90 days had passed. So ebay wouldn't help. And the guy didn't care.

The front seats would have worked, but not the rear seats.

So I was forced to just order a brand new set from katzkin, made to order for me, so I didn't make any more mistakes and pay money and not get what I want.

So long story short. I have a crew max set of these katzkins. Sitting in my garage. Cognac color. For crew max sr5 or limited. With console shifter.

There are tons of YouTube videos to install a katzkin set at home.

Nothing specialized really needed. Hog ring pliers. And if you want to be ghetto, you can clamp the hog rings with regular pliers if you had to. Hog ring pliers are like $5-10 on Amazon.

The shop I used to install, the owner said a first timer would most likely need 2x 8 hour days.

For $400 so I don't have to kill myself for 2 days was worth it. It took the shop 3.5 hours to do it.

I'd say the trucks worth $1k more, minimum, with the katzkin set.

The katzkin leather feels pretty thick and supple, it's nice leather.

It made the truck feel good inside.

But. If someone was inclined to do the work themselves. It could be very cost effective.

I didn't even tell you that before I bought that Crew max cognac set. I bought a double cab katzkin set, that's like a peanut butter brown, more of a tan, but not like the limited tan, not that light.

And my dad didn't like it, he wanted a red rock hue.

And I got stuck with that set.
That was my fault. Not the seller. I didn't want to pay the shipping return

So I'm sitting an extra crew max set in cognac and an extra double cab set in a darker tan peanut butter color.

That's why I just ordered the final set myself, to order. To not feel anymore stupid

It's in its box in the garage.

But I'm pretty sure it's this.

I buy first, think later. I got this set for $750 , that's why I jumped on it. I would have rocked it, I think it's nice. But my dad had the red rock interior in his 07. And he kind of wanted to replicate the old truck.

I just wanted him to be happy.
    Which he is now.

It could be this shade of tan. Katzkin has a huge swathe of colors.
I'll take a picture of it later when I can.

Problem when you go with different colors is everything else has to accommodate or get changed out.

    You're right

I thought with the rest being black. Just a splash of color on the seats would work with the rest being black. Which it does.

But then you see how Toyota does it, and think about, then it seems like a good idea to get the rest styled correctly.

    Didn't know that.

I havent had PayPal in a long time. I have it. But they took money from me on their own once. And I stopped trusting them.

And I could never get a hold of them.

Now I just pay with my debit card on eBay.
And it's been more than 6 months

I was trying to get it done for my dad.

Instead of showing him the set on eBay, I just ordered it thinking it would be ok.

Because when we bought our sr5 they had a white double cab limited on the lot with tan interior. And we almost took it. So I thought he was ok with lighter colors.

We didn't take it, because we got a great deal on the sr5

Almost $8-9k less to be financed than the limited.

And I knew we could do mods ourself. Save$$$

And get what we really want

    Here's the "peanut butter" one.
Its not called peanut butter. I just called it that. Not trying to give the wrong
    info.

I think it looks great. I would have installed this set. But my dad had Red Rock in mind.

Man those look good with a white truck! I’m almost considering those over plain old black for my white crewmax. Like said though, the light grey headliner and pillar trim sort of throw it off for me.

You know that all the 1794 trucks from the factory come with that same gray headliner.

Also, I did a lot of research on katzkin, roadwire, and alea leather. They are the big 3 who make leather upholstery sets.

And apparently, if you order the all black sets, or graphite sets. Those are like generic pre made sets. They have them ready and stocked. And they sell for a Little bit less.

But..there is a catch. Those sets come from Malaysia. I guess they did that to keep the cost a little down. And I've seen pics and read reviews where people are less than impressed with the results. Sometimes the fitment looks like it's a garbage bag draped over the cushion

The shop who did my truck, the owner explained it to me. He said the Malaysian sets use leather sourced from over there. Where the sets from here get Brazilian leather. He said the sets made here are better.

It's kind of like ordering a burger at a fast food place. If you just order it standard, they give you one from the warmer, ready to go.

But if you make 1 small change, like no ketchup. They make you a fresh one, then you put the ketchup on yourself.

He said order a set through a katzkin dealer , then they make it fresh.

I'm torn between the two. I could have gone either way.

The cognac is a little more conservative. The cardinal red more rebelious, but still handsome.

I do and I feel the same way about those. Not knocking yours at all, I really like them. Strongly considering those for the nice contrast again black. I like the red as well but it’s not for me personally.

    No offense taken.
    I agree with you

I think the 1794 should have had better color coordination.

But when Toyota takes the grab handle away from gen 2 to 2.5.. To save $20 a truck.

You can tell they aren't going to redo anything for color coordination sake.

I took our grab handle off our old truck, and put the new trucks no grab handle in its place, before we sold it.

Those pictures are a black set with gray wings, like Toyota does it. And the other is a black set with outlaw leather wings, it's tooled leather, like a horse saddle.

I kind of wish I did the outlaw wings in cognac, just because, give it some subtle contrast. If I did over, I would have got the outlaw wings.

Come up with your own black variation. Have a set made for you

The katzkin dealer said the outlaw leather portion is heavy duty, so there is function there too. Little more heavy duty material on a high wear spot.

I don't see why they couldn't make that exactly.

I didn't go for perforation or excess stitching, even though I do like it. For the sake of longevity.

I have a personal theory that perforation and extra stitching are weak points.

My dad's a contractor, and I know all the perforation will get filled with dirt.

    And then degrade more quickly.

    Just my opinion.

I vacuum and wipe down his truck on Saturday mornings.

    Seems to be doing great.

I did buy a set of camo custom fit water proof seat covers. Neoprene.

I put them under the rear seat.
Told my dad, if he's got an emergency where he's super dirty or wet..to pull those out. Just to be nice to the leather. Backup plan.

I may have a buddy who wants it. What's your price if you wish to sell?

Oh they can make it but they want a million bucks lol it seems they can only sell me the full set which I do not need. I also reached out to an upholstery shop and he said he could order just the fronts but the price is pretty much what Katskinz gave me
