I love my new truck!! 2021 TRD PRO Found it on Carvana. Built late August 2021 with only 2,000 miles for $61,900. Plus it came with nicely tinted windows, spray in bed liner, bed cover and running boards. It still looks and smells brand new.

    Looks great..
    I think you were smart buying a 2021 over a 2022..

The FIRST thing I would buy for her would be the catalytic converter shields of your choice..
    Don't ask me why..:eek::oops:

I have heard about catalytic converters or something being easy to steal. Is that what your referring too?

    Yes Sir...
Mine were stolen 11/15/2021, 152 days ago.
My truck is still at the dealership waiting for one side of the cats to come in.
The other side came in back in December.

A lot of us have bought Valhalla's plates, me included.
Mine are sitting in my garage, just waiting to get my truck back..

Valhalla’s Shield theft deterrent/skid plates info and ordering post | Toyota Tundra Forum (tundras.com)

Not trying to piss on your new purchase, I just don't want anyone going thru this wait on parts like a lot of us are..

I was close to pulling the trigger on a 2021 TRD PRO in November 2020. I decided to wait to see the 2022 Tundra. A month ago I test drove a 2022 Limited and a 2022 1794. I loved the tech but was underwhelmed by everything else. Not pulling the trigger in Nov 2020 on a 2021 pro ended up costing me a few grand. I bought one a few weeks ago from Carvana. 2,000 miles with tinted windows, spray headliner, bed cover and running boards for $61,900. Which believe it or not is a great price for a used 2021 Pro with only 2,000 miles.

My truck is parked in my garage every day. It’s only parked outside when shopping, going out to eat etc. I wonder if these thefts are less likely during the day.

The theft side of it can happen anywhere as it’s a few quick cuts with a sawzall, and they are gone. It depends on your city/state some have gotten hit harder then others. But daytime and shopping centers around people don’t deter the thefts as you would think.

The height of the tundra makes it easy to do what they need to do, and due to the truck having the 4 cats it’s a popular hit for thieves. Then when you go to cut they don’t care what else they destroy under there lines wise. Some people have reported 1-2k worth of damage when the dealership goes to replace the system.

most just go threw insurance and dealership for oem replacements, but that’s where it gets crappy as most dealerships have a couple months backlog on getting oem parts to fix it, and most are out of rental cars.

As already stated there are several cat covers out there, I have and liked the Valhalla ones the best, also how act as a skid.

That would be an ASTOUNDING NO!!
Mine were stolen at noon in my employer's parking lot.

I know it was noon because my Drone Mobile app notification went off at 12:05 and 12:08.
I was already 50 miles away on the way to Louisiana.

Around here they are stolen in grocery store and shopping mall parking lots among just about any other place one would park in public and leave it unattendanted...
It takes 30 seconds to make 4 cuts of your pipes and take your cats.

I'm not trying to scare you, I didn't think it would happen to me.
But sure enough, when I remote started my truck after work on November 15, 2021, I thought who the fu(k has such a loud vehicle.
It was me, within a split second, it came to me what had happened..

I'm going on 5 months waiting for parts to come in.
The ONLY saving grace is that I'm in a dealer loaner/rental Tacoma and they are paying for it.
Well, another saving grace? My truck has been paid for since 2018.
I cannot imagine making a truck payment on a vehicle that has been in the shop for 5 months..

Buying plates is a small price to pay to know you have some kind of protection against theft.
Could they still cut your pipes? Yes.
But these POS thieves are more than likely to see your plates and move on to the next opportunity.
