I spilled gas in the bed of my 21 tundra, wiped it up but it still stained. I’m not too concerned with looks as it is the bed of a truck, but would like to prevent premature failure of the coating and eventual rust. There is some staining on the outside of the tailgate which I wouldn’t mind cleaning up. Attached are pics after I scrubbed it with car wash concentrate (clear coat safe). Any recommendations?

If your truck is 040 super white I don’t think it has a clear coat per se. i was told that it is clear coat mixed in with the paint. My prior 2010 was white. I recommend keeping it sealed and coated with some type of product or it fades from the sun and exposure over time. That said, I like the idea of trying clay bar to remove the staining.

Thanks, I think I will try the wax/buffing technique a bit first then if that does not work try the clay bar.

Yes. I no longer use wax on anything.

I would be surprised if clay bar removed that. Going to need to polish that out. If super white it is a bit different since it has clear and white mixed together.

I frequently get gas stains on my boat (it's white), where the tank vent spews some gas on hot days. I've always use this. https://www.specialty-graphics.com/grafix-gone-adhesive-remover/ It sprays on, just wipe it off. Works like a charm, smells a little like Goo-Gone.

Link is an example. Do a web search for "Grafix Gone" for the best price.
