Last year I installed one of those plastic piece of shit swing boxes and had to remove the tie down for it to fit correctly. Of course the head was filled in with bedliner and I dug out what I could. Since then the box broke and I attempted to put the tie down back but ended up stripping the bolt heads. Does anyone know offhand what size bolt I would need for a replacement? Thanks in advance.

Autozone will have a "test fit" board by their fasteners. Just take it in and match it up.

Well I just re-read your question and now I'm not sure I answered your question correctly - are you talking about the threaded holes for the OEM bed rails, or the bed bolts that hold the actual bed down, or something else? Have any pics?

Ahhhh ok. Sorry I gave you the info for the bed rail bolts. I think mine were masked when they did the bed liner, so I'll see if I can get the specs on them.

Big thanks to you for this suggestion, it worked out perfectly.

if anyone that may search this thread needs, the size of the bolts for the tie downs is:

    M8-1.25x20mm

Hey I know this thread is a bit old but I figured I'd ask here. Do you remember what fastener size these bolts are? I'm thinking T30, but mine are also filled with bed liner and I can't be exactly sure of the fit. I'm going to try to dig some out with a pick or knife but I'd like to avoid stripping them.

Sorry should have been more specific. The bolts that hold the tie down on side of the bed, just inside from the tailgate. They felt like T30 but it's really hard to guess with rhe bed liner in them.

Post #6 looks to be what I'm describing.

Lol, I keep making assumptions on this thread and missing the ask. Those are actually a T40

Thanks so much! You saved me a lot of spitting and swearing. There's so much bed liner caked into the bolt heads it's hard to tell.

It should all peel off in one piece if you cut around the bolt head, at least it did on the bed bolts for me.

Thanks so much for the tip! I don't know why I didn't think about cutting around the bolt head.

That's exactly what I ended up doing, which popped the "cap" off each bolt no problem. Got my tail gate extender installed in short time after that.

Same problem with bedliner spray. My question is what is the type of metal in these screws so I'm not causing a corrosion issue with different types of metal? They are the tie down anchor bolts. I was thinking of using the black oxide finish bolts. Would that prevent corrosion?
