WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO YOUR 3RD GEN TUNDRA TODAY?

No have not tried them out yet, dealer is still trying to figure out why my trailer brake is not working. I had them on previous vehicles and work well for the occasional towing I do.

 

I saw one done with tape, but not the same as the real thing.

 

I got the Talon's Garage cat shield installed. Time from order -> delivery -> my doorstep was just a couple days too, which is nice. I'm in Sacramento, CA and we've had A LOT of cats getting stolen here recently. *LOTS* of them.
I saw a YouTube video on someone else installing theirs, learned from it, and it only took me about 20 minutes to get everything installed on mine.

Next up? See if there's a way to mount a rotapax or fuel can in the bed somewhere that somehow remains California legal. I'm open to PMs if anyone has ideas.

 

Thanks! it was actually your post that led me to them and I even bought a second one for the wife's bike. I like that it leaves enough room in the middle for other gear. pretty happy so far.

 

Installed the Talons Garage cat shield today with some bolt protectors from Ballistic Fabrication.

 

Replaced the factory p rated tires with a LT275/70/R18 Cooper discoverer ATP II

Looks much better. Rides firmer of course with the coopers being a 10ply but they ride very well.

 

Blacked out lame oversized emergency warnings.

 

Talon install looks great, which bolt protectors did you get from Ballistic? Also, did you use the bolts supplied by Talon?

 

I still used the bolts supplied by Talon. The bolt protectors from Ballistic are the 3/8” Bolt Protector Spacer. They were $3.99 each.

Blacked out the mirrors with a can of Plastidip. Going for that TRD Pro look, or just the standard Sr5 look lol.

Thanks and I agree. The TRD sport and platinum are the 2 best looking trims out of all, but the platinum still has the weird black tailgate piece and the dark chrome grill. Trd sports all color match option should be part of the trd off road package, but toyota knows way better than all of us

Thanks! At first I was hesitant on the color, but it is the one color that there is absolutely no denying what the truck is.It is growing on me.

It has been raining this morning but I’m aching to get outside and get the collar lift put on. It will be almost complete at that point as far as my plans go. Only thing left will be front bumper, winch, and tow hooks.

 

Installed Westcott design preload collar today at work on my day off. Drove the truck stock for 8000 miles now. Only used the preload collar without the top spacer. Stock rear.
Took about 3 hrs from start to finish. Install went pretty easy. Only issue was the spring compressing. These are stiff, I’ve done Rams and Chevy springs before but never had to use so much strength to compress the springs. I thought it was going to snap the spring compressor fingers.

Front measured 20.25” from center hub to fender stock. After preload collar measurement I got 23” in front. Rear stayed same 23.5”. The ride felt definitely feels more firm. But not rough. Need to get an alignment. But every shop won’t be available till next week. Guess truck will be sitting until then and I’ll be driving the Evo X or R1 for a week.

Now to just waiting for my Rays Gramlight to come from Japan and put some 35” tires on.

Handy information, I was thinking of doing the same with my sport. Do you think if you added the rear lift from wescott it'd be too much rake or just right like OEM with only the preload collar up front?

 

I think if doing the 1” rear spacer it’d be perfect amount of rake. Less rake than OEM, because the TRD sport is pretty low in the front. 3” difference from front to rear stock. Mine is pretty much leveled. Idk if it’s going to settle anymore, but will check again after my alignment.
