Dual Apple MagSafe Wireless charging mod.

Behold my picture book for the wireless charging solution using Apple MagSafe stuff. Any questions, just ask.

Does the phone get hot while charging?
My OEM console charger in my 2.5 Gen gets so hot the phone won't work.
Considering redesigning it using a different charger..

Toss some matte black vinyl over the white part to hide those bad boys a bit and I think you are set to jet. Or red if you want to stick to that TRD vibe. Looks great though. I need to do something similar. The integrated qi charger is a joke.

 

Looks great. My luck, by the time I get the truck, Apple will move location of the magnet on the back of the phone.

I wish they put that cupholder/storage design in all trims, so much better than mine.

we had three car seats and I bought extra cup holders for all of them. If you really need it its yours.whne we gave the car seats away I kept that cup holder because it was so nasty on the inside I felt guilty about giving it away. I had to let it sit in simple green for a day and now its perfect.

 

What is this piece in the middle of the upper center console and where did you get it?
Does this piece come stock with the higher line Tundra's? I have a bare bones SR5 but I want this piece!

 

Lol...was just joking about it...recognized it from my daughter's seat. Was that a battery tray you used as the backing?

 

Yeah it was a top plate to hold it down so the Straps don’t damage the naked battery when it crashes.

 

It’s a super shallow cubby and the piece on top is the lid. I keep my insurance card in there. Peace in front of that there’s a little slidable shelf which also came stock.

 

Keys and phone go in that little sliding shelf for me!

Would the charger still work through the vinyl? I have these in my Tacoma and they stick out like a sore thumb

 

That looks great.

Maybe add a hardwired usb plug behind the dash to eliminate the wires on the top of the dash.

 

The charger will still work perfectly fine, unless your vinyl is made out of lead or something. If you think about it, they can charge a phone through a case without any problem. (well, not the one Toyota gave us, but that one sucks )

I Tested with vinyl and it’s fine. I just couldn’t come up with a good solution to cover them in a silver trim because the holes so precisely cut for them that vinyl would not fit in it

 

out of curiosity, what happens to the QI symbol on the touch screen? Do you get any errors?
