Likely the regular ones. Talking with Taco guy he said they were preferred. Vendor says the Track version runs hotter and has less longevity. So we'll be getting the regular ones as well.

Some people with factory Tacoma VVTI solenoids have seen issues with them failing and was hard to track down to the solenoids. Also some other techy things mentioned in the thread I linked. But we'll get all this nailed down and keep y'all updated

See above link for more detailed info

Below is forum member statements/chart. Not vendor

    * Notable power gains in the mid range power band have been noted, driveability issues have been resolved, and as an unwarranted side effect, fuel economy is higher than before. Your mileage may vary based on usage, and weight of your truck.
    * Benefits come in form of additional torque under the curve. Low and mid range powerband gets a nice kick from this.
    * The downside to this as with any performance item comes with the price. However, it's a great replacement solution for those having VVT solenoid issues much like myself which emanate themselves in various ways (intermittent or frequent hard to start issues, cold engine misfire issues, and hesitation at take off from idle or low speeds, or direct VVT related codes)

The variable valve timing solenoid is a component of the variable valve timing system that manages the oil flow depending on the engine speed and load.

This sounds like another snake oil thing. Do these physically make any difference of the cam phasing or just "increase response time" or some BS?

Idk, we'll see after the Dyno testing! In the Tacoma side it seems to have made some actual differences. Then again it could've just been bad solenoids to begin with

But it's also the reason non of us bought the overpriced QT ones and went a cheaper route

I just got a reply from David at superchargers online and here’s his response on the Magnuson intake parts:

“Hello Phillip, Yes we do. All three parts are in stock

The air box lid is $225.00
    air box coupler $78.00
    air box base $35.00

    A99D9136-E683-4462-8CC9-ABCE2ED90631.jpg 772C5DAE-8783-4DFA-84CC-8830995B4676.jpg 9507E2D0-5B7E-4DB7-9154-BF5F088F31C7.jpg

But as @Bo-Hunter previously stated the Harrop coupler works so no need for the $78 expense. I’m probably going to just order these parts.

When I inquired with them back in January it was $155 for the lid and $45 for the base. I guess they jacked the lid price. I mentioned the availability of them through SOL in this thread a while ago but no one seemed interested at the time lol.

I may have to just to be spiteful of their price increase. :rofl:I have a lead on a brand new takeoff magnuson intake at possibly a better price as well. In the end it’s probably pointless for me to do the upgrade since my truck runs awesome as is, but I need something to mess with at all time so here we are.

Over a year ago I bought the Magnuson intake system from SOL and it was ~$400 all said and done, so ZPhilip's numbers match what I saw. Maybe they were confused what you needed quoted.

Maybe? I was in contact with Nergal who seemed to be pretty on top of it. Just checked the email again and it was airbox base - 45, lid - 155, shipping - 22-25. Who knows though. I guess I should have placed the order then, it was just too recent after spending a ton just beforehand.

Edit: this also did not include a filter, so figure on another $80 right there for a quality AFE or similar.

Ah, sorry I'm all fucked up comparing quotes. Mine was:

    Coupler and hardware - 155
    Lid - 60
    Base - 45
    Filter - 80

If the lid used to be $60 and it’s now $225 they must have caught onto the demand from people buying Harrops and needing an upgrade lol. It is rather annoying Harrop doesn’t provide their own solution to this problem.

I was thinking…what are the odds of stretching over and sliding the entire Harrop provided rubber tube over this aluminum one and then just cutting the hole for the MAF sensor to go onto the aluminum tube? It would look a lot cleaner than using reducing couplers on each end.
