I currently have two orders, one for a TRD pro and one for a Platinum. The Platinum should be arriving in about two weeks. I am first in line for the TRD Pro but one hasn't been allocated yet. If I get the platinum I would be putting level/wheels/tires on it almost immediately, bringing the price close to the MSRP of the TRD pro. Need help making a decision on what to do: wait it out for the TRD pro or be happy with the beautiful platinum. I won't be doing much off-roading so don't have much use for the locker; but the hybrid and extra horsepower does sound fun.

Sounds like you really want the pro…. If I was you I would wait for whichever you really want. Otherwise you will regret your decision every time you see the trim you really wanted

Guy on FB has a great explanation and traded his plat for a pro and would do it again. I think it's personal preference.

Resale value goes to the pro. Luxury appointments go to the platium. But for me pro had enough to justify over the platinum . If you want both of best worlds get a 1794 OR Hybrid. I think the windchill with brown interior on the 1794 is really nice. Just have to dechrome and body paint and done.

I think this is spot on. Pro will hold resale better, but not as fancy as Platinum. The 1794 OR in any color with brown interior was my second choice, but the de-chroming could get pricey.

Seat comfort is a big consideration; I have a 2021 Tacoma and one of the main reasons I decided to upgrade was how uncomfortable it was driving more than 1hr in the Taco. The platinum/leather seats look more comfortable than the softex, which I've sat in on a TRD OR that was on the lot. But haven't sat in the platinum.

The TRD pro seat isn’t bad but I’m 6’3 and would love the thigh extenders of the platinum. I have seat jackers in so hoping to install and hope it’s better

I could have purchased a Platinum that came in, but I ended up waiting for the Pro.

@DrZoidberg where did you get the seat jackers?

Are both offered at MSRP? If so, I’d think the Pro was the better buy, without modifications. As stated above, resale would be better as well.

Now for a twist….I was able to test drive a used TRD Pro recently. The Hybrid was nice, but I preferred the ride of my SR5 with aftermarket tires/wheels. Not sure if it was the suspension or tires, likely a combination I’m guessing. The Pro was not a bad ride, just different than what I was accustomed to, not as firm.

Regardless of pro or plat trim, the seating position of the Tundra is going to be an improvement over the Taco. Tundra seats put your feet downward whereas Taco seats put your feet forward. This makes driving, including long drives, more comfortable. I drove 6 hours straight last Wednesday with no breaks and while I was tired at the end, it had more to do with having played 18 holes that morning.

Personally I think the 22 seats are too firm but I’ve been using a memory foam seat cushion that has solved this issue for me. The AC in the seat still works but we’ll find out if the heater will work in a few months.

Regardless of which trim I decide on, the truck will be used overwhelmingly to carry my golf clubs and making me feel better after shooting 15 over. Appreciate all the responses.

I would not be concerned about resale value- it’s a Tundra

Selling it more quickly I think the Platinum would go faster. Pro is more a niche market.

The main que- are you towing more or off roading more? If more off road get the Pro, vice versa get the Plat. It’s that simple.
If your vain, care what others think, insecure or just have little man syndrome get the Pro- because driving on the road 99.9% of the time one “needs” the most off road capable truck.

As I was waiting for my Platinum hybrid a solar octane PRO just came in and I was offered it ! I almost pulled the trigger but my main reason on getting the truck was towing so I stayed with the platinum and don’t regret it.

Is the platinum you're in line for a hybrid also? I owned a 22 SR5 for 3-4 months while waiting for my hybrid allocation, so I've driven both for a while. I would hold out for hybrid. It's got some serious get up and go. I've noticed in slow traffic that I have to turn off sport mode because the truck really wants to move! I haven't towed with my hybrid yet, but really looking forward to it. The SR5 I had outowed my V8 F150 hands down.

TRD Pro definitely on the re-sale. My Toyota rep came in last week and told me a dealer showed them a 2022 TRD Pro at auction that sold for $117K. Just when I think this market cant get any crazier, that kind of shit happens

No kidding. We just sold our new Capstone a couple days ago, I was looking at auction transactions on those and they were bringing $90K to $95K at auction on the last 7 that sold there. Not bad for a truck with a $76K MSRP

$83K....$10K to $12K less than I could have gotten at auction. People think new car prices are up, used is just insane. The guy traded a 2019 Tacoma in on the Capstone and I gave him more than he paid for it new so he washed out and was thrilled.

I watched one of the new 2023 Hummers run though 2 weeks ago at auction. MSRP was $130K....the highest bid hit $192K! Again, this market is insane.

Also, sorry I feel like I hijacked a thread so I will bow out lol....But to the OP, Get the truck you really want. Dont settle for what you can have now just based on that alone.
