I would say DM him, as he does not check the thread enough because he is most likely busy wielding or other stuff.

Or go naked, and then spray your own solution, some like to do that, I have seen people do bed liner spray, I just don't have time for that so I got my steel powder coated.

true, could do that. I've had good results with powder coating on other items so I decided to go that route. If it flakes or something I could always try the bed liner route, but for now I am happy with them.

It appears Toyota doesn't maintain a tight position tolerance between its tie down hooks. Captain Jack Dremel got the job done though. Pity to cut the powder coat. My truck's bolts were about 34" apart on center and the skid was made closer to 33 3/4".

I figure about 3 hours for the cat skid pair a couple weeks ago and another 3 hours today for the engine skid install. Definitely sore again.

Gosh she's getting a little rusty down there.

Hey so I got my truck back today. Put my new shield back on (gave my old one to a buddy that had cats still). This time I used security bolts.

Should I worry about the rear shield. Do you have some in stock I could get? I’m in cypress.
    Thanks

I've had my front and rear plates installed for a couple of months now and have had zero issues with install, or rattling. After nearly $6000 covered under insurance for CAT replacement back in January, I did not want it to happen again and have my insurance total my 2011 CM 2WD that is still in excellent condition. During the install I did slip a piece of thin ABS plastic between the two plates where they overlap as the small gap looked like it could be a potential (future) vibration opportunity. Ordering the rear vertical add-on today.

I used Valhalla's pentagon security bolts with Rock Dome bolt head protectors that would make the bolts harder to cut off..
Not sure if they help, but they look cool..

I bought the medium domes for my pentagon bolts.
I only needed 6 since I have a TRD skid plate.
Don't really need them on the bolt to the frame but I used them.

Thanks! I apologize for the confusion, but what size bolt hardware did you use for the 8 bolts on the rear vertical plate add-on? I may go back and add the rock domes to the pentagon bolts on the front and rear plates later for the same reason.

What secures the two bolts going through the crossover section of frame? Considering ordering a set for my '21

I'm considering the same and live in B.C.
Current area isn't bad for theft yet but it seems things are getting worse by the month.
Unfortunately travelling the Oregon Coast or over to Van may be a sure way to limp home with open pipes the way things are going.

    I would say:

If you tend to travel light, occasionally tow or go big, get the steel, either pre-powder coated or post self powder coated, salt prevention is a must.
If you tend to load heavy right at stick weight, or RV is your middle name, go with aluminum and power coated, pre/post don't matter.

For those on the fence about it, just bite the bullet and get it, it is better to spend the money and not get hit than get hit and THEN wait 11 months for cats to be in stock while you are one vehicle down due to out of commission.

There is a hole in the frame, then that bolt has a nut and washer on top.

Most guys going for the 3/16" aluminum plates? Debating on whether or not 3/16" is necessary for cat protection.

For most, 1/8 is enough as a deterrent, but for those that have it double duty as off-road, 3/18 would be more ideal.

Great shields and great coverage. Highly recommend. Waited a while but with a one man operation it is totally understandable. Tyler answered all my emails and even helped take care of the shipping on the rear shield which had gotten lost somewhere in transit. Totally worth the wait IMO. Thinking about getting that back L-plate in the future but don't really see the need right now.IMG_2949.jpg IMG_2950.jpg IMG_2951.jpg IMG_2952.jpg

    Trying not to mod it

So, I'm just kinda following up here. I'll likely be making the move to a Tacoma Pro sometime next month. Any chance you'll have something compatible with the Pro Taco skid purchasable in that time frame? :fingerscrossed: I'm actually planning to buy from a dealership a few hours away from Cypress, but fuel and time would cost more than the shipping.
