Been looking for new head lamps and tails. I orignally thought I would purchase OEM TRD Pro lights and now looking other options.

MoriMoto gen 2 head lamps are roughly $1300+. Any one have experience with these? Is it really worth the price tag? An I know "is it worth it" is up to the individual but a lot of you folks have more exp with other lamps and there could be just a good of option and not spend $1300+. My exp is 2014 OEMs haha.

    https://www.morimotohid.com/morimoto-14-20-toyota-tundra-xb-led-headlights?quantity=1

    Any thoughts are appreciated.

I have the OEM TRD pros and love them, but if you do go with the morimoto's, try waiting until black friday because they usually have a good percentage off sale. IIRC last year was 20% off.

I have them with the amber DRL, I love them. They were worth the purchase for me. Clean cut off line, sequential turn signals, smoked lenses make them appear blacked out.

I've had both, started with the 1st gen then drove through a Versa and upgraded to the second gen. I like how the second gen utilizes all 3 lights all the time. On the first gen the 3rd light was only used on high beam.

I can get some pics of them when I get home today.

Pics would be awesome. I mean if you read their website, the gen 2 lights are well worth it. haha.

My truck stays outside and curious to know how long the lenses/case stay clear w/o fading from sun. I think they are UV protected. Not sure how good it is.

My truck is never inside, parked in the AZ heat daily and my gen ones looked brand new when I took them off aside from the one that was damaged and my gen 2s still look great.

LOVE hearing this. My current head lamps are awful due to sitting outside for 8+ years.

I'm running HID retrofits in my 2nd gen. My cut-off is slightly off and its driving me nuts. I too am wondering if the $1000 is worth it. Might be my next upgrade (would definitely face lift the 2nd gen).

IMO the OEM is always the way to go if you have a 2.5 gen.
If you have the 2nd gen a retrofit is nice, but isn't OEM and creates stress if something goes out (ballast, light, ignitor, etc).

I've had luck with the headlight restore kits to clarify the lense. Might be worthwhile before the black friday sales roll out.

Please report back when decide what your doing.

side note: headlights have a coating that requires attention like your paint. if you buy anything new make sure you maintain or they will look like what you have now.

I'm actually in need of doing it again. i have some Silvana stuff at home i'm going to try. i used stuff from advance auto on my dad's 10'. came out better then i expected but i have no long term to compare too.

There's a youtube video of a guy doing a tundra. sanding, what he uses and such. took him 1/2 a hour talking through it and came out great. i'll see if i can find it.

he said the polish will not last and you need to first sand any polish up to get to solid plastic.

I had the Gen 1 on my truck for about a year and the lenses hazed over. They were replaced under warranty. Since the Gen 1 was no longer available, they upgraded me to the white DRL Gen 2's at no charge. I had a local shop put PPF on them. Most computers only cut them for the front of the lens, but they manually cut pieces for the top as well since that is usually where the hazing starts. Now as far as the headlights themselves, they work great. Most people forget to think about this when they are looking for lights. There is a difference besides costs between the TRD Pro headlights and the Morimotos. The TRD Pro lights are led reflectors, and the Morimotos are LED projectors. You cant go wrong with either one as far as light output, but they are 2 different types of housings.

@WarDamnTundra I completely missed the tail light portion lol. I also have the Hottails conversion that uses all VLeds bulbs.@memario1214 can hook you up with those and the Morimotos.

I've had mine for over 2 years, outside 24 7 and still look new. Should have replaced the stock lights sooner.20221104_160116.jpg 20221104_160147.jpg 20221104_160209.jpg 20221104_160228.jpg 20220813_163325.jpg

Those do look good! What lights do you have installed in the hood bulge? I would love some amber there too.

Let me make sure I am understanding. These are hot tails and the Vleds are separate? I don't think I know what a hot tails conversion is. haha.

Your head lamps are the OEM TRD Pros?

My headlights are the Morimotos. The Hottails is a conversion harness that uses Vleds bulbs.

Thanks, it's a Baja Designs S8, with SDHQ brackets. The amber lights are the back lights, it's wired through a Switch Pros controller. Back lights can be turned on or off as desired.

Does anyone know or have opinions on the performance of the XB’s vs the OEM Pros? I know the XB’s probably have a much better cutoff (due to them being projectors), but anyone know the low beam performance between the two? I assume the XB’s will have a little better overall output, just wanted to hear what others experience’s were
