Does anyone know if there's a way to turn off the 'Entering school zone' notice on the infotainment screen?

Maybe settings through the center cluster or head unit?

I know I can change some thing’s like speed limits on my Tacoma to display or not display

It is linked to the Android Auto and Apple Car play...I believe you will find the notification setting in the map settings.

I'm fairly certain that is part of the Road Sign Assist (RSA) system. You can turn it on and off using the center display settings in the dash.

It's not part of the Android Auto or Apple Carplay. It is part of the toyota navigation system.

I believe if you disable the RSA, that should fix it. I have not tried to disable that function myself, so not 100% sure.

I disabled RSA today and drove to the school zone down the street from my house. The speed limit was no longer visible in my dash, but the "entering school zone alert still went off.

I'd really love to know how to turn the school zone alert off since I see it every time I leave my house regardless of if school is in session.

What difference does it make…it’s only there for a second or two, doesn’t require you to do anything and turns of by itself.

It's annoying to get an alert every time I leave my driveway. I get that some people like it, and I respect that, but I don't and would like the option to turn it off. That's all I'm asking.

Do CCW holders have to change their route so they don't drive on a road that goes by a school?

Depends on the state. Some states have a specific distance you have to stay away or something but I think most of them you are fine as long as you arent actually on school grounds.

Yeah I would imagine if you're traveling then you're fine. Pulled over on the side of the road though would be a different story.

The notification would be nice if you're during hours but after hours or outside of school season, it would be annoying. Especially if frequent the route. I.E. on your way to/from work or something.

I just went out to mine and looked through every setting I could, and I didn't see a way to disable this particular warning. Just stuff like state borders, HOV lanes, and traffic.

Did you ever find out? I want to turn off all of the alerts that pop up on the screen. Volume changes, school zone alerts, Sport/Econ mode. It’s just annoying. The whole truck doesn’t need to know I turned the volume up one click. And at night I turn the whole screen off, but those still pop up. I can’t find any way to turn them off yet.

road side assist system has to be changed through the gauge cluster not through the radio, if you change the "others" to no notification it turns off the school zone messages

I changed this (set "Others" to "Off") on my 2022 Limited and I'm still getting the school zone notices on my LCD screen.

Thanks for the info and the detail! I’m still messing with it, but it looks like this works…but only if you keep RSA ON and turn all of the notification. I turned off all the notifications, and turned RSA OFF and the school zones were still popping up…just a little less (weird). Now with RSA ON & notifications OFF, I think it’s working (meaning no school zone pop ups). But still confirming.

I wish there was just a way to turn off all notifications from popping up on the infotainment screen all together. And the fact that they pop up when the screen is turned off is just dumb.

What’s most annoying for me is that I get the warning when I’m not in a school zone. The main road I drive I get the pop up in both directions. I have no idea what sign it “sees” that leads the system to think I’m in a school zone. I also have issues with the speed limit being wrong on that road too, until I pass a sign. I’m wondering if there isn’t some cross-talk with the navigation to fill in info.

After seeing the price for something I never use, in 10 days I will know more. :)
Remote Connect is handy, but I don't use any of the Drive Connect features at all.

Update on this…they started popping back up again. Doesn’t matter the setting. I get School Zone notifications for most of the ones I drive through, and even one were there isn’t a school. So, no resolution yet. Maybe the Drive Connect thing will kill it when it expires.

i guess no one figured out how to turn the school zones off yet? i found several video's that show a option to turn off school zone but it was for other toyota models, noting for newer tundra.

I was thinking that the school zone warning was coming from the Toyota navigation database? The road sign assist that displays the speed limit signs never changes until I get next to or just past the new speed limit sign. The school zone warning comes up a fair distance before I get to the sign. This might explain why some are seeing the school warning when there isn't a school there? Maybe the database wasn't updated to reflect that the school is no longer there. I'm OK with the warnings so I haven't done any research on turning it off.

My manual shows that the road sign assist only recognizes four signs; speed limit, do not enter, stop and yield.

It's definitely coming from the Toyota Navigation database. I've never activated TN, I only use CarPlay and Google Maps. I don't get school zone warnings.
