It is unfortunate isn't it? I expect many will be looking for a replacement bumper design that will work with tow hooks and probably a winch too. I don't really need a winch, but functional tow hooks would probably be a good thing.

TRD Air Filters, Front door windows tinted to match the rears. Wheel locks, Talons Garage cat shield, Tyger Automotive soft tonneau cover, WeatherTech floor mats with Tuff Skinz Custom Emblem kit, Toyota OEM Emblem Black Out kit. AVS vent covers on all four doors, Red Tundra letters on front bumper & TRD highlighted in Red on front grille. Tailgate Tundra Letters in Black.
At this point it’s a better than nothing for me. But I do recall my 2000 Tundra didn’t have any either :notsure::notsure:

I'll use them for pulling Honda Civics out of the snow banks here in Canada.

Getting our 1794 TRD in a few weeks and wondering what the consensus is on running boards that do not impact ground clearance (in the middle of side of truck) much or at all? Thanks.

I’ve only had for a couple days and put roughly 50miles but love it!! Huge difference between my 2015 SR5. Fit and finish it much improved.
    I’ve added the following:
    -Rough Country level
    -Open Country III 285/65/20
    - Borla 1” spacer
    - Retrax PRO cover
on order, TRD Black chrome exhaust tip, TRD air filter, bed step, and bed mat. I also ordered Husky liners.
Going on a family run tomorrow, local diner breakfast and to check out the ski mountain for upcoming season, should be a fun drive!

Just got a 2023 SR5 crewmax TRD Sport and I'm thinking my first order of business is installing running boards. Any recommendations? Any good websites besides Amazon?

Just minor stuff. For example, Undercover bed cover, Tufskinz custom door sill protectors, and TRD air filters.
Don’t forget that the 2022 Tundra TT V6 has two air intakes/filters. You’ll need two TRD filters. Had the TRD CAI on my 2016 Tacoma TRD Sport and loved it, so I put them on my 2022 TRD OR Limited. Not sure if a CAT Back would make any difference.

Added lights in the bed today, they provide a lot of light and have a push button switch, wired for direct power. Ran power from batter back to passenger side tail light to tie in, the kit has an in-line fuse. Grounded them with and existing chassis bolt under the bed. Not sure the adhesive will hold up but will fix if not. Soldiered all connections and lug for hot wire on battery post.
Videos would have you drill all sorts of holes in the back but I did it with only drilling one small hole for the pushbutton, cut the wire, fed it thru, then soldiered back together. Use double faced adhesive on the button (not included), pretty hidden so it won't get pushed by accident.
    YouTube install video:. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=zdbbVnDnG6Q

Bought the lights from Amazon, recommended on several sites so I gave it a shot, so far so good.

@brewjd - it came with a 4-pin trailer connector and the mate. I wired the mate into the harness so if it breaks, I can unplug it and plug in a new one. Also drilled small holes in plastic between bumper and tailgate and used black zip ties instead of drilling so it would not block the spare tire hole. Also didn't trust the adhesive.

@CKOPIX Can you provide more detail/pics on the install of this light bar please? I don't see how it can be installed without blocking the spare tire access slot. Or is there a way to use the clips to mount without drilling holes? Maybe a 2-sided tape to mount the clips? Maybe that will provide easier access to the spare tire slot?

@brewjd - this is how I did it after evaluating the options, just sharing as one alternative, may not be right for you. I didn't see a way to use adhesive as the bar goes over the top of the license plate holder. I am happy with it as i didn't have to drill any metal parts. Also, you can pop out the existing wiring harness and get the LED cable through to tie into the cable harness without drilling. OR you can plug right into the trailer hitch on the bumper, too messy for me with cable and I pull a trailer. I used a multimeter to make sure I was splicing into the right lines in the harness, lost my notes on that but you can figure it out pretty easy. Please post some pictures if you hook one up. I will say drivers see me a mile away now, never have an issue merging or changing lanes.Taillights-1.jpg

Thanks bud. The video you linked looks awesome. I'm all for making it really easy for people to see what I am doing. Just trying to avoid drilling extra holes in my new $70k truck. I know it's not a huge deal, just having trouble getting my mind around it. It should be here in about three weeks so I have a little time to make up my mind. I may just use the adhesive and put it over the spare tire slot. If I have to pull it off I have to pull it off. 48 years of driving and I have maybe had 3 flats that I have had to change on the side of the road?

I wonder if I just plug it into the 4 pin outlet if the truck will think I'm pulling a trailer?

bummer not a viable solution for our winters up here when hit the negatives as low at -25F actual. those zip ties get really brittle during the cold snaps and the body/bed flexing cause them to snap at times.

the double sided tape works, but you can get the same issue after a few years.

most of the ones i see on trucks they are usually dead after a few years or failing due to harsh winters we have. leds dead, control module broken.

gave up on them after they constantly fail after a year or two in our extreme cold snaps in ND

@nodak67 - I used just 4 zip ties, don't mind swapping them out annually or as needed to access license plate holder. Also the plastic they are connected to is very flexible, don't see it being as brittle as attaching to metal and they don't have to be uber tight. If you search, you can find cold weather zip ties rated to -40F/C, we use them in telecom. Hope you find something that works for your environment.

lol didnt realize they made cold rated zip ties.

i also quit putting up xmas lights around the garage since the siding plastic anchors get super brittle after 2-3 yrs.

they attached by sliding them under the seams on the siding on the house.
