“We are aware and have heard from customers about the issues that you noted. Once each individual issue was flagged, we analyzed root causes and implemented corrective countermeasures on the production line within weeks.”

But nothing for the current Tundra owners?

they state the problems with the truck are chip shortages and supply chain issues. How these affect the reliability of an existing truck is beyond me.

Agreed. One member had his seat trim break free and they wouldn’t warranty even though they know it’s an issue.

You mean the guy who had a little crack in the plastic and decided to go hulk and start ripping his truck apart because he doesn't know how to control his anger? That guy? You're surprised Toyota denied his claim for treating his Tundra like a printer in Office Space?

I did not decide to go hulk

When the crack first happened I contacted a Toyota dealer and was told it was not a warranty issue

over time a hole appeared then cracked to point where it was hanging on by about 2 inches so at that point I pulled and it came off

it’s a crappy design not abuse by customers

Here’s a pic of a seat trim that was on a new tundra on the lot
You can see the crease starting
That will turn into a crack

It sucks the dealer didn't take care of you. I was unhappy with the seat fabric in my 2016 Tacoma and Jim Norton hooked me up with full Katskin leather. I was pretty amazed.

I love it when the manuf won’t cover a shitty part then the guys here blame the owner. Wonder how many of you guys will pay the $140 for a crap ass trim piece every time it breaks?
To the OP, sucks that the tundra didn’t work out. I personally don’t want to buy any other brand so I am staying with my 2020 as long as possible.

I was talking about the post a few up. But yes, I messed up. The OP I was referring to was RLHOK, which was the supposed hulk, ripping apart his interior. He had his own post about it.

I'll gladly accept body trim issues, some squeaks, and even some leaks- over broken transmissions, spun bearings, failing turbos, 15+ recalls, DPF failures, intercooler issues, etc etc etc that you get driving an Ram Ecodiesel.

The Ram EcoD is not a good example. It was built fairly poorly, not unlike my Jeep Liberty CRD. Who would have thought an Italian designed diesel in Chrysler/FCA vehicles just doesnt work well

I hear the new EcoD in the 2019+ is better though

I read this damning report last night. Real shame how this all went down. I abandoned my '22 order many months ago and bought a '20.
It seems like years ago (it was!) that I was coming every inch of the internet trying to get renderings of the new Tundra, pricing, unveiling date..... What a crock!

Will buy the Gen III when I'm sure things are corrected, and right now that doesn't seem to be the case at all. Maybe mid '24.

Ok so here’s a pic of the piece in question

you can see the hole, that was the 2nd thing to happen. If you look at the hole you see a crack running off to the right. That’s what remained of the crack that started it all, it then went to the hole. The hole resulted in a post that broke off and made the hole.

now look at the broken edge.
The part of the piece towards the end of the seat you see a light colored torn edge. That’s all that this trim price was attached by when in my so called gamma ray induced fit of uncontrolled rage I ripped the interior of the tundra apart and threw the pieces thru the air with whistling sound effects.

Ok seriously there’s about 2 inches of where the trim piece was attached. If you look at the rest of the broken edge you see that it had cracked.

it’s a design flaw that I hope Toyota fixes.

I sent two dealers pictures and requested warranty before the piece was separated and was told no. It’s a normal wear issue and Toyota does not warranty trim pieces from normal wear and tear.

Think what you want. Say about me what you will but that’s how it went down and I ended up in a Silverado FE8725DC-E574-4269-B80D-65DA0C1369D6.jpg

Thing is I am not mad. I reached a point where I said nope, no more, I am done.

I have said I wanted to like the tundra, I did. I think they nailed the drive train, but need to re think the rest of the vehicle. Maybe take a 2.5 gen and put the drivetrain from the 3rd gen in and run with it.
