I need to upgrade the shitty headlights in my '21 SR5 as I can barely see anything driving down the street at night. Is the best option the TRD Pro headlights?

I read something about needing LED for it to be a straight swap... mine have LED daylight running lights but that's it, so will I need a harness?

Not to throw the thread off, but yes halogens are weak and Led is the way to go. Are you at stock height and what setting is your headlight dial on? You would be surprised at how many people don't have any idea what that is.

Get the OEM PRO LED's (if the black interior is your thing) or the non-pro LED headlights. Use the thread mentioned above to get the wiring harness (since you have the LED DRL strip currently, swapping with @iHacker 's harness is a breeze. Should be the first harness in that thread). It was so easy, I was able to do it. Going from Halogen headlights to LED's is best mod you can do for your tundra. Relatively pricey, but by far the best ROI.

Perfect, thanks all. Driving my wife's new 2022 GX460 the LED headlights blew me way driving at night, and I can't go back now.

OEM LED lo beams >>> OEM Halogen high beams and added benefit of not blinding oncoming traffic. For some perspective.

The headlight dial was at 1 - I thought it was zero but I think it was actually down one as I didn't originally clock the line was at the top of the dial, if that makes sense. I've installed the TRD Pro headlights and now need to be at 4 for them to be at the same height the stock ones were at.

Do you NEED a new harness if you have a 2021? I thought it was plug and play as long as you have the LED DRL’s.

It depends on the headlight being installed and the stock configuration. I have a 2020 SR5 that had halogens with the drl strip at the bottom of the headlights. I installed Morimoto XB's and did not need a harness.

I have a '21 SR5 and there is a cheaper option of just replacing the bulbs with LED's vs the whole housing.
These are what I have and am quite happy with them.
Right now $265 for the pair. They do have discount codes from time to time and are listed as a vendor on the forum @Headlight Revolution
    https://www.headlightrevolution.com/2014-2020-toyota-tundra-ultra-2-led-headlight-bulbs_2?quantity=1

VLEDS also has these. Which are a bit cheaper but I have never run them.

    Best of luck.

Just installed the Morimotos. Excellent purchase and well worth the money thus far. Far superior to OEM halogens. I was debating new headlights and a light bar and I’m not even humoring the idea of a light bar anymore because these are so bright. I still need to take pics with the headlights actually on, but they make the front end look so much better.

Not if you get them on sale. It’s an investment, more deer spotted from distance means less deer hit with your truck

Just curious, does anyone know if one replaces the Halogen with the LED's does the recall still need to be performed as I am assuming (and if I'm wrong about that please let me know) the concern of high heat is no longer an issue? I've been holding off on the recall as I thought maybe it would not be necessary if I went with LED. Thanks!

your assumption is correct. The amp draw from the led is considerably less than from the halogen bulb, and the hi/low on at the same time is no longer a "overheated wire problem". I wouldn't park your car in Arizona mid day in august and turn your hi/low's on at the same time for 12 straight hours, but under any other circumstances you will be fine.

Very cool! I was hoping this would be the case. Thanks for the reply - much obliged.

    Too many, but not enough....
Another vote for OEM TRD Pro LEDS, the output is night and day better and they look amazing. Also upgrade to the OEM LED fogs, they are plug and play and a really cheap upgrade.

I keep getting conflicting information. Some folks are adamant that it’s not needed, while other say you have to have it. I thought a remembered a couple years ago when this option first came out IHacker was not selling the harness for the 2020 and above because if you had the DRL’s then it was not needed.

The DRL being LED in your original headlight assembly will allow your current wiring to connect directly to the LED DRL of the new LED headlights.
What the harness does is allows your current wiring (halogen headlights & turn signals) to properly connect to the new LED headlight bulbs and turn signals found in the new LED headlight assemblies.
