Its time for an oil change on my tundra, we are travelling this winter, getting away from Mn. snow. we are in the Parker/Lake Havasu area. If anyone has a shop recommendation I would appreciate it. Really not wanting to go to a jiffy lube type place, tia.

Jiffy lube serves millions of customers and if you hear some bad stories once in a while doesn't mean they are not doing a good job.
People usually post only the negative reviews including myself so keep that in perspective. I try to post positive reviews also but it's easier to forget.

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
I prefer Valvoline (sit in while you wait type), they are fast, use only Valvoline products and are actually inexpensive. Luck in the travels.

You could change the oil in the parking lot of a Walmart while traveling with everything needed inside of Walmart minus the Toyota specific filter wrench but could use a generic one in a pinch.

If you end up going to a jiffy lube, I would give them a zip lock bag and tell them you want your old filter in it to inspect it. All too easy to just leave that thing in there and change the oil only.

They will poop in it and you'll never know whilst prominently displaying your "used filter" to passers-by.

I have used fast lube places in the past. Long ago when working 50+ hours per week ... I bought oil filters at the dealer and would take them with me and get a $1 off for providing my own filter. lol

I would tell them I'll pay the full price but use my filter and I'll take your oil filter with me. They had no problem with that. I would then give their oil filters to friends or family members who were not as picky as I was.

I was. I followed manager directives to sprinkle dirt in fluid samples to push sales...I witnessed all sorts of illegal activity to generate up sales from otherwise passing car inspections. It's a shame I live with today. We ripped off older folks, women, etc.... disgusting.

@MNdiver any shop is a gamble brother, just depends on the employee doing the work. Just check oil levels and take a gander underneath before you pull away and it should be ok. I did like @Adam idea in asking for the old filter. Again, genius.

All good man. We live and learn as we get older. It's sad but that's why businesses earned their stigma, few bad apples always affect the greater bunch.

Edit: public service in a nutshell.

    Right! :(

@MNdiver — presumably you can setup your dive suit with your life;) just diy?

probably the best choice is to go to Toyota dealership and check out what they have if in an unfamiliar area. State your concerns to the service advisor, i.e: skid plate bolts, clean underneath, exact oil you want, etc.

Or maybe you have an acquaintance that has a few tools and plastic tub. Just asking friends may help you out

I like Robinson Automotive in Havasu. Been taking my vehicles there for a few years. Daryl is the owner and a great guy, straight shooter who will point out your vehicles issues and has great pricing. Give him a call

Sorry, just saw this. I personally use Anderson Toyota if I need anything while in town. Had service there on my 14 once and it was great. I had to go out in August for an AC problem at my house, and had to run to Walmart. I had the parking brake recall that needed to be done on my 22. This was a Saturday morning at 9:30 and I dropped in to see if they could do it. They said yes, dropped me off back at the house, and picked me up when it was done a couple of hours later. If I don't do it myself, oil changes I will always have done at the dealer. If an oil filter fails or if the tech messes something up, then I am covered at any dealer in the US. I was a service manager at a Toyota dealer here in So Cal and had a tech make a stupid mistake that made it all the way to DC before it came apart. We coordinated with the dealer there and got the customer taken care of. Other stuff, depending on what it is, I will do or an independent.
